Just a heads up for beerlovers on this forum: I had the opportunity to visit the new Macadoodles Liquor Store in Joplin recently.

That place is impressive. It has to be the best place that's reasonably close to Tulsa to stock up on beer and wine.

Great prices. They supposedly have the largest craft brew selection in Missouruh. And more than 4,000 wine and liquor labels.

They've had a location on US 71 near the ARK/MO border for a few years, but that one's kind of hard to get to from Tulsa.

This new one in Joplin is gonna be my new place for stocking up on beer.

It doesn't appear on google yet. The address is
3105 E. 17th St. (17th and Range Line)

What are the prices like compared to Tulsa prices.

The prices seemed pretty good, but I'm not really all that concerned about price. A lot of the beer I want is not available in Oklahoma. So I just stock up when I go out of state.

I got a bottle of Delirium Tremens for under $9. That beats most prices I've seen.

Price wars remind me of living in PA. The PA tax on booze was already high and made higher in the 60s. Folks near the border went to NJ, MD and maybe DE in the eastern part of the state. There was a limit on how much liquor could be brought into the state without PA tax. The State Police sent radio cars to the areas of liquor stores in NJ in particular. They would watch for cars with PA plates and call them in to their buddies on the PA side of the Delaware River. This worked for a while until the FCC determined the PA troopers were out of their juristiction and busted the troopers for operating a radio out of their area. Maybe there is some justice after all.
