KFC has issued an offer to Mayor Taylor to repair all of Tulsa's  pot-holes for free.

In fact, they have offered to pay for the repair of every pot hole in the country.

The only stipulation is that they get to stencil a KFC logo on the repair.

Your thoughts?

It's a lose-lose situtation. If she says "No", then people will complain because taxes will be used as opposed to "free" service. If she says "Yes", then people will complain because taxes aren't returned (without acknowledging that they would be used for other road projects) and because "the city isn't providing the services that it is supposed to provide".

Personally, I would probably say "No" to the offer due to the fact that I don't think the streets are bad enough or EVER will be bad enough to justify the how tacky stenciling haphazardly over potholes throughout the city would look. Not to mention how visually cluttered and therefore dangerous it would be.

I like the idea, but it should be open to competitive bids.  Maybe some other company will pay the city in order to plaster their logos all over the streets.

"...and we're pleased to announce that this year's pothole filing has been awarded to Big Gay Al's House o'Porn!"

Seems fair to me.

May you live in interesting times.

I've never felt that shoveling some loose asphalt into a pothole actually "fixes" anything.  Invaribly, these "patches" become holes again within a matter of days or weeks... at least on heavily traveled streets.

Let them fill (fix?) the holes.  All logos will be in water soluable biodegradable paint.  They get a few days advertising but we don't have to put up with permanent logos.

Assuming this is for real anyway.

Yeah, but if we let KFC pay for the repairs we could just stop by any KFC drive through to complain when a new one pops up.

"Uh, Yeah, I'll take a 6 piece white meat bucket, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and could you fix the pothole on 83rd and Pittsburg?"

"Do you want double asphalt for 60 cents more?"

"No, the city already does that, making a pothole into a speed-bump"

Every single one of them came undone during Saturday's snowstorm/slush river event.  Ironically, some of the worst I've personally encountered are along Peoria right by KFC.

Sounds like a conspiracy.
