I have been interviewing paint contractors and don't know why, but all of them so far seem to be fishy.

One said he was fully insured etc., and when I asked to see proof, he never showed up!

Another one was so high on his quote and also asked for a deposit of 50%.

The other one said he charges $100 for each coat of primer on the ceiling (would need at least 3 coats) and another two coats of paint, so for a medium sized room I'm looking at $500 for the ceiling only!  Didn't even ask how much for the four walls.

Anyone you would recommend who does a decent job and doesn't want an arm and a leg?  I know people need to make money, but I have several rooms to paint but don't have the time to do it myself.

I have a friend who is a teacher that paints for a second job...very, very meticulous and good workmanship.  His own house looks amazing.  His family has a contracting business and he works during the summers and occasional weekends.  PM me if you are interested...

Dang, those painters are making more than I am doing artwork or fauxs on ceilings these days lol. I charged about that to do a Ralph Lauren "gold leaf" dining room ceiling a few weeks ago with an italianate scroll design around the chandelier. I am guessing it would take about 2 gallons of paint+primer, possibly 3 for 2 good coats for a medium sized room. So about 100$ in supplies, (paint, rollers, since I don't spray, and tape).  Bout an hour and a half to set up and tape, then get on a first coat before lunch, let that dry, then second coat after lunch. I might be able to do that for 300-350$ just guessing (don't know how high the ceiling is or what your idea of "medium sized room" is).   And yes, I have insurance. Would be nice break to do a brainless, paint one color, job lol.

I think they see how desperate I am to get my house painted.  I've been busy helping mother after my sister's death so the house is still in a remodelling stage :'(   But with the holidays almost upon us, I feel the urge to get the place organised.  Sis wouldn't want us to put our lives on hold, know what I mean?

Give me your number via PM please.

I certainly don't want to snatch food from Artist's mouth, but I did see a sign yesterday advertising painting for $99 a room.  The number is 282-3216.
