As expected, the initial contact was complete and utter BS from the officer.

Behavior like that does nothing to increase respect for officers as a group. You'd think they'd learn that.

And that's presuming Fox was doing what the officer claimed did actually assault the officer with more than words.

Obviously some city ordinances related to bicycle equipment need to be rewritten.

Oh, my. Bad mugshot. Was it just me or did anyone else immediately think, "omg its Smeagol" ,,, from LOTR? http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/images/gollum.php

I don't know anything more than what I read on this thread...

But I got to go with the officer on this one.

This biker clown was asking to be confronted and when had the chance, responded poorly to the officer.

Showing off on a center median in the busiest intersection in town seems a very stupid thing to do.
Power is nothing till you use it.

I've heard two accounts so far.  The first was that he was riding against traffic and that was the reason for the stop.  The other was that he was riding with traffic.

But is there anything illegal about cavorting in the median?

Frankly, I'm surprised at the venom on display in the Channel 6 thread.  One of them said that he's run cyclists off the road by driving at them and braking at the last second.  Sounds like good, clean fun.  I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I sent a couple of 45 caliber hollow points whizzing past one of his kids, just to scare 'em, of course.  No harm, no foul.

May you live in interesting times.

This brings back an old topic of discussion.  Thought the name of the cop sounded familiar.

Not that I agree with either side in this case (Fox/Pike) but it appears that both men have quite the reputation.

I agree Patric.  His story sounds plausible to me.  I could also see him getting upset with an officer for a light ticket a 3pm and the two getting in an "I'm right" confrontation, which the man with the gun always wins.  BUT, if Biker's side of the story is correct then I'm with him... seems like BS.

OH TO HAVE DASH CAMS!

No charges are currently filed in Tulsa County.  The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.  The cop was harassing him (no light at 3pm?) but then the Fox did not handle it well and threw a fit... giving the cop an excuse to treat him like a man throwing a fit.  Just my guess.

Im not as certain as you are on this.
Neither one of these characters have a stellar reputation, and its looking like the cop was the one that precipitated the confrontation so any claims he made would be in question.

A good candidate for steroid testing, maybe?

Im mostly disappointed in the poor quality of KOTV's one-sided "crime reporting" which barely qualifies as reporting.

If you back-talk the wrong TPD officers, they WILL instigate a fight with you and take you down.

Fox is harmless, albeit quite a bit on the loony side.

Nick Danger

Somehow I don't find the gross mug shot of him any more disgusting than the pictures of him on his website. Ewwwwww!

ARGUS

The Biker Fox has had a close call with me before by his bad antics and poor riding?driving skills (meaning compliance with rules of the road).
I say pancakes too if I were ticketed for a "no light" on a bicycle at 3pm.
Put 'em both in a cell together for 3 days and call it a wash.

We are going to have lunch Thursday.  Any questions anyone wants asked?  Notice the KOTV comment section was removed from their story? Last I saw there were about 600 comments!

I was wondering the same thing.  I wanted to read the comments!! I stumbled upon his website a few yrs back, he had TONS of pictures of Jenks Cheerleaders up on his site, along with some glamour shot type photos among some others.  I was told he owns some type of classic car parts business? any truth to that?

That seems far from harmless.

Quote"Bf was riding his bike in the right lane. Stopped at 68th & memorial. Pike rides up on a bicycle I coudn't believe it. He says he is going to write me a ticket for not having a light on the back of my bike in the middle of the day. At night I have 2-3 flashers. So we stop he starts writing me a ticket, I said why are you being such an a.h. and harassing me. He said go sit down there now. I laid my bike down when I did Channel 6, my front tire barely touched his rear tire. He said you just assaulted a Police Officer. Your kidding right? So while I am kneeling down he proseeds to put me in a choke hold. No warning nothing. He keeps saying stop resisting. Resisting? I am flat on my face. About to pass OUT! Finally he Knocks me out channel 6 but thats ok right Channel 6. You trust all the Police right?, keep in mind he has been harrassing me for 8 years & counting. He is the ONLY cop to write me a ticket in the last 15 monthes. Now thats not Police Harrassment and Brutality. Man I can see bloggers are usually haters on the internet. Thanks to the many whom support me. Doing the right thing when your about to soar with the Eagles brings out the Snipers.
Come on haters yopu just make me stronger. When the Judge Finds out the police are harrassing me again She will throw it out. Maybe the D.A. will get tired of the Police harrassing me. The will finally put a stop to this one cop. Just one Pike. The dishonest bad apple."

Turned out to be the same Officer Pike that got a later brutality case settled out of court.

And he walked.
It's not like there werent warning signs...

EDIT TO ADD
After leaving Tulsa this officer once again found himself in the headlines:

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/crime/893346.html
http://www.wpbf.com/news/24852930/detail.html

JUPITER, Fla. -- Two West Palm Beach police officers were arrested in connection with vandalism done to two vehicles in Abacoa.
Jupiter police said witnesses called 911 after seeing two men near their vehicles in an Abacoa parking garage early Thursday morning.
Police said when officers arrived, they found two vehicles had been significantly damaged and the two men were standing between them.

The men, later identified as Christopher Clark and Timothy Pike, were arrested on felony criminal mischief charges. Jupiter police said the men are West Palm Beach police officers.

Bar manager Michael Stuve said he and a co-worker called police after seeing the officers near his new truck.
"They were both kind of straddling the open door of my truck, and they were just trying to say it was their truck and they were wanting to drive home," Stuve said.

Police said the officers ripped off Stuve's gas cap cover, broke his mirror and scratched the side of his truck. Pieces of his truck could be seen on the ground in the parking garage later in the day.
"Noises that I heard when I was walking up the stairwell was probably the breaking sounds of our mirrors and maybe the gas cap," Stuve said.

It was only later that he learned the men are police officers.
"That totally blew me away," Stuve said.

Jumby Bay owner Vicki Griest said she was also shocked to learn the suspects are police officers.

"We've been working really hard on keeping this area crime-free, and to have the West Palm Beach police officers vandalizing cars, that's just -- I'm shocked, completely shocked," Griest said.
