Who are they?  Your local coffee shop owners, that is who. (Thanks for the segue, MichaelBates)...Melinda=Shades of Brown; Cheri=Cherry Street Coffee House; Brian=Doubleshot...

Which coffee shop is your favorite? Don't forget Cafe Cubana, Nordaggio's, Gypsy, Topeca etc....

I am a DS guy myself.  (I don't know if you noticed,  Brian is expanding the Doubleshot...he is taking over the space next door, where Chrome was.  The new space will be the coffee counter and shop and the old space will house more production capacity.  An expanding local bidness...what do you know?)

Regardless of how you feel about the management, Doubleshot makes the best coffee in Tulsa.

I like Doubleshot and wish they stayed open later.  Any true coffee shop needs to be open until at least 10, preferably midnight.  Also, see my thread about the 18th & Boston streetscape in the Urban Planning Forum.

That being said, the Cherry Street Coffee House is my neighborhood place and that's where I usually go because I can walk there.

Doubleshot is hands down the best coffee in town, simple and good.  I believe CHOCS is now using 2shot beans as well.

Doubleshot Coffee is among the very, very best coffee I've ever had.  In my book it ranks with Intelligentsia in Chicago and Bluebottle in San Francisco.  The others run great coffeehouses, but Brian's beans are on a different level.  (in my humble opinion)

I must confess I've never tried Doubleshot, I must do it after reading other's opinions.  I've had SOB, CS, and I frequent Topeca most often of any.  Is Cafe Bona local?

I generally avoid Starbucks, over-rated crap, but it seems to appeal to many other's tastes so it's got its place.

Kaffe Bona is local. They have one store in OKC. Good coffee and a good assortment of sandwiches, wraps, and desserts. The 91st and Yale location seems to be popular with ORU students.

I used to enjoy Doubleshot, but I haven't been back since he dropped evening hours. It's so rare that I'm free and nearby when he's open that I don't even think of it as an option.

Tulsa is unusually blessed with good late-night coffeehouses. They're much harder to find in most other cities I travel to. (Wichita is an exception.)

When I travel, I use IndieCoffeeShops.com as a way to avoid Starbucks.

Example of a patron at Kaffe Bona:

Gotta love youtube...it'll make ya famous.

Be fair, now. That was the 81st and Lewis Nordaggio's.

Regarding indiecoffeeshops.com -- I should have explained that it's a crowdsourced Google Maps application. You can search by address, whether or not the shop offers wifi, is non-smoking, has hot food items, serves alcohol, and has outdoor seating. It's a very useful resource.

Changing opinions one mistake at a time.

Coffee? Whassamatta with you guys? You don't like beer or something?  ;)

If a coffeehouse ever puts Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and all three Hanks on the sound system, I'm there. But the music in these places is way too hipster preening for my tastes.

There was a neighbor who said "Right here in front of God and everybody!!!" as they were thowing things out of their place during a disagreement.  A friend of mine said "I think God stopped looking at you long ago."
