Let's back off on our technology to give the other side a fair chance in a battle.

NOT!
There is this concept you may have heard of. It's called "overkill."

We all agree that we should have the best military hardware available. The question is how much better than everyone else's it needs to be? We're spending most of a trillion dollars a year at this point on security-related expenses. That is clearly unsustainable.

Yes, Red Arrow, all the technology is there now. We have the knowledge and launch capability necessary to make it happen. I doubt we have the funds, however.

I was drafted near the end of the Viet Nam war.  I believe in overkill.

"Overkill" has brought forth advances with great civilian applications in areas like weather prediction (radar)  which has saved countless lives, navigation which has spun off an entire consumer industry and has made shipping and civil transportation much more efficient, communications, new materials which have proven useful in our every day lives.

There are far worse places for government to spend money, like teaching grown men how to wash their Johnsons.

Keynsian economics should have been buried with Carter's defeat in the 1980 elections. However, people forget and now a new generation gets to watch it's ultimate failure.

The problem is the next generation will pay for this failure.

Keynsian economics has been taught in respected colleges and universities for years.  It must be correct.  People's reputations depend on it.

What's the ultimate failure?

Eh, what does he know?  He's the same guy that looked Larry King in the eye on the eve of the Iraq invasion and said: "I have no doubt that on the day I left office there were unaccounted for WMD's in Iraq."  ;)

He's still an engaging speaker and he is good at conveying concepts without belittling his audience.  I never thought there would be another President who would actually make me miss President Clinton a little.

Yet, somehow, there have already been two.  :-[

Which is still not necessarily a complement to Clinton.
