"Contains treated municipal sewage sludge along with yard trimmings collected curbside by the city's waste management department"

I am familiar with this product and have toured their facility in Texas. It is a great partnership with leaves, grass and sewage sludge.

Tulsa has a land application program for their sewage sludge that is not only cost effective, it also has a waiting list of landowners wanting to apply the material to their property.

Until that changes, I doubt Tulsa will mix sewage sludge with any other material.
Power is nothing till you use it.

The composting temperatures may take care of carnivore poo bugs.  Is that much different than a septic tank regarding safety?   The Wikipedia article also mentioned heavy metals and other things that find their way into municipal sludge.  Safe levels now may be deemed toxic several years from now.  Then think about the clean-up.  I can imagine that at one time the mess at Tar Creek was not deemed toxic.

Surely it can't be worse than the untreated chicken litter slurry that is used as fertilizer on many cow pastures. That is one terrible smell..

Worse than Dodge City, KS?  I was there for a very brief time a few weeks ago.  The smell at the airport was overwhelming.

You don't have to go that far. The Stockyards in OKC near the mouth of the new OKC river (I don't remember the town name, maybe Mustang?) is overpowering when you first cross the bridge into the city. Some of it must be leaking into that river as there were some sicknesses last year when swimmers were exposed to it.

It smells like the worst feedlot you've ever smelled imagined.

You ever been west of Amarillo?  I've been to both and Dodge City smells liked fresh washed bed linens compared to Amarillo.  Gack!

Oh gosh, Amarillo is disgusting. You can't get away from the smell. I've only been there twice, both times just passing through. I don't think I could stay there for a prolonged period of time.

I was at Amarillo airport about 10 years ago just long enough to get fuel.  Other than that, I haven't been there for at least 25 yrs.

I drove through OKC (on the interstate/turnpike) about 3 yrs ago but before that, the same 25 yrs as Amarillo.

Milorganite has been around for decades.  85 years!

Used to be able to get it around here, but haven't seen it in a while.  From Milwaukee, beer town.

And to be gentle on Texas, they started theirs in 1989 - so it only took about 60 years for them to figure it out.  In fairness to Texas, Oklahoma still hasn't.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.
