Interesting news. . .The LA Times is now reporting that the administration is urging Iraqi officials to request that troops remain in Iraq rather than withdrawing according to the 2012 deadline "amid growing concern that the planned pullout of virtually all remaining American forces would lead to intensified militant attacks."

"Unless Iraq asks for a change in its 2008 agreement with the George W. Bush administration, only about 200 active-duty troops would remain as advisors after December, the officials said. More than 166,000 American troops were in Iraq in 2007 when the U.S. military presence there peaked. There are about 46,000 remaining."

If Iraqi's follow the administration's advice, as many as 10,000 troops will remain.

Probably not a bad idea if withdraw will create instability, but it is ironic that Bush's plans for troop withdraw are being "adjusted" in such a manner.

When attacked by a mob of clowns, always go for the juggler.
