If I knew your real identities, I would invite you all over for leftovers and pie.

I am thankful for TulsaNow and all that I have learned while reading this forum. We are some of the most informed people in town. If knowledge is power, we will soon rule this city.
Power is nothing till you use it.

Thanks for the offer.  We will have more than enough here.

Dinner will be ready here in about two hours, and as per family tradition, someone is ill.  In about 20 minutes, I get to peel potatoes, another tradition.  SWMBO hates peeling potatoes.  And since we'll be using the good dishes that can't go in the dishwasher, I'll be washing up after dinner.  If I ever build another house, the kitchen counters will be four to six inches higher so I don't have to bend to reach into the sink.  It makes my back hurt.

Enjoy the holiday!
Ed

May you live in interesting times.

Someone post the WKRP clip yet?

Wild turkeys (feathered type) actually can fly.  At least they can fly enough to not be lawn darts.

Domestic turkeys are like many Americans, too fat to fly.   :D

Wild turkeys and grouse will remain still while you walk right by them if they're not noticed.  But if you stop for a moment, they'll burst from cover when you take the next step.  I've had grouse break from practically underfoot, and turkeys go out of trees over my head.  Their short, stubby wings are designed for quick acceleration.  They'll fly through trees rather than go around them.  They've scared the wits out of me on numerous occasions.

They fly only a hundred yards, sometimes two hundred, then glide to a landing where they start running. I've eaten wild turkey buy never hunted them.  I very much enjoyed hunting grouse, though.  When my bird dog died, the fun kind of died with her.

Last spring a wild turkey was in our neighborhood.  I got a picture of him next to the carport.  Large bird.
