Channel 2 says there will be 10 police units cruising Brookside tonight looking for drinking drivers.

I don't drink much, nor hang out on Brookside much, but thought others could use a warning.
Power is nothing till you use it.

Good thing I'll be drunk driving elsewhere.  ::)

Any revenue they had hoped for was offset by the vehicles they wrecked.

Apparently an unmarked car tried to make a U-turn from the right lane and hit a civillian in the left lane, sending three people to the hospital.

There is no indication that the vehicle that was hit did anything wrong, but TPD cited them with "failure to yield to an emergency vehicle" to try and deflect blame.

Making traffic stops in unmarked cars is stupid, stupid, stupid.

Hopefully the "civilian" car will be able to get some favorable witnesses.

KOTV.com is reporting that the officer had activated his emergency lights, yet how ironic.......thats the only emergency vehicle in the picture without any emergency lights on!! What a bunch of BS.

QuoteMarch 17, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- A judge set bail for at $500,000 for a North Chicago police officer accused of killing two people in a wrong-way crash on Lake Shore Drive at a court hearing Sunday.

Terrell Garrett, 35, was charged with two counts of reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol for the deaths of Joaquin Garcia, 25, and Fabian Torres, 27. The crash happened early last Friday morning.

The judge set Garrett's bond at $500,000. According to prosecutors, Garrett's blood alcohol content at the time of the crash was 0.184, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

I agree completely about the statement dealing unmarked cars.  My wife was pulled over by one and absolutely freaked out.  She didn't know what to do so she proceeded to an area where it was very public.  When the cop got to the car his first question was "why didn't you pull over sooner".  She told the cop that she was scared because it was an unmarked car and she didn't know that unmarked cars and pulled people over.  She was actually trying to contact emergency services (911) to find out if it was the case.  After taking her information and writing her a ticket he then stated that "she probably did the right thing".  But this was 15 minutes after the fact and not after he got to the car and saw she was absolutely freaked out.  I understand that some people may use emotions to try to get out of things, but if that is the response you get from a person, you best help ease their mind instead of making them feel worse.

It is not like she dropped the window, flipped the bird and floored the minivan.

Those tactics were developed before we had concealed/open carry, and definitely should be re-evaluated before someone is killed.

Seriously, if I believe I am about to be carjacked, Im not sure I will just sit there and be a willing victim.

Special Immunity

The Oklahoma Statute Title 47, Chapter 11, Section 106-Motor Vehicles, Rules of the Road, Authorized Emergency Vehicles empowers police car drivers in time of emergency with a special immunity. When an urgent situation arises or when law offenders are on the loose, police cars are allowed to exceed the speed limit, disregard parking regulations and ignore traffic light laws and other government road signals. This law applies when police vehicles have the emergency indications turned on.

I've been pulled over a few times over the years by marked and unmarked..the unmarked guys are always the biggest douchbags hands down...

I wonder if the "task force" discovered a need for increased public transportation options or if they decided that additional unidentified police presence is the ticket.

ABLE agents were in my garage checking my beer fridge this morning. They, all 22 of them, had a lot of question about how the Yuengling Black & Tan I have got in there. I just pointed to the Black Trans Am they were standing next to and asked if they had any other stupid questions......
