Many of you were asking about Starbucks offerings at the second floor bistro bar inside the Courtyard by Marriott - Atlas Life Building.  I have attached a pic of their drink fix 24/7.

I'll  never get why "tall" is the shortest and "grande" is only average sized.

I'll never understand why people drink the stuff,  I guess most people like their coffee beans burnt.   Maybe that is why the best sellers are the fatty, sugary stuff so you can't taste how bad the coffee really is.   How many calories in that caramel frappuccino

That's a lot of wasted calories.

In the next few months Starbucks and other chains will have to post the calories of their menu items as part of the health care bill.  NYC already does this and on a recent trip there I noticed just how many calories some of the baked goods have and didn't get one because of it.

hello

No frappuccinos. Bummer.  >:( Thanks for the picture though.

Are those the prices on the right or the current version?

"Yes, I'll have a tall cappuccino."

"That will be 2 dot 7 plus tax"

Or are they the scores the Russian judge gave American figure skaters?

We sat at the bar yesterday and noticed the builders spared some expense.

It looked like they used laminate all over and the joint on the bar looked poorly done.

Too bad.  I was excited about another place DT to hang out after work.  The prices for drinks was up there as well.  $4.50 for a domestic bottle, as an example, will keep me away.

Townsend - Just wanted to let you know that in the case of the use of laminate in many areas, these are design criteria that are set by Marriott and not the developer.  Many of the furnishings and finishes are actually purchased through Marriott or its contracted vendors.  Marriott is very particular in keeping with certain design schemes among their various properties, i.e. the Fairfield Inn's new 'Green Tea' design elements.

At the same time, use of some materials to keep costs lower assists in the overall operating proforma as chain hotels are required to undergo sometimes significant design updates every 7-10 years to keep their properties looking fresh and modern.  Some hotel developers choose to accelerate this, again to maintain advantage over other, newer hotels.  While laminate was used in many areas, there is also marble, custom made glass tile, custom fixtures, etc.

As for the beer and its price point, this too is set by Marriott on a corporate level depending on the hotel's tier rating.  Marriott does this so pricing is the same in all markets, not sure I agree thats the way it should be but...  Tiers are set up by brand and number of rooms as I understand it.  A larger hotel of the same brand may have a different price structure than one of a lower tier/room rating.  I think in time, some adjustments will be made or other offerings provided to make it a little more attractive.

Domestics, for instance, at the new Hoiliday Inn start at $3.50.

Went there during lunch today and looked at the starbucks. No-one was working but there was a sign saying to go to the check-in area for assistance. No-one working there either. Hopefully just bad timing.

Old thread resurrection...
Is this an a "real" franchise or corporate owned location?

It doesn't appear on starbucks.com's locator, nor on google maps.

I see signs for it on the 1st floor, but haven't ventured up to the 2nd floor to check it out.

just curious

hello

I can't answer that but unless you want straight coffee or maybe one or two other options made by hotel staff I wouldn't bother. They advertise they have three or so frappuccino options but most of the time they are made by people who don't know what they are doing. Very disappointing.

I payed closer attention when walking by today..

The signage says:

"We proudly brew"
[STARBUCKS LOGO]
