Traffic Question

Hi all, we are continuing to plan our relo to Tulsa this summer.

What can anyone say about the Forest Ridge Development in Broken Arrow? Never been there, but looks nice.  

My wife will work near Utica Square. What would the commute be like from that area to Utica during normal biz hours? BA Expressway a nightmare that time of the day?

Any help is always appreciated! Thanks, and looking forward to moving to T-town this summer.

Forest Ridge development is nice..it is the only master planned community in the area in my opinion.  I have a friend who lives on one of the ponds and loves to fish it. The homes are pretty big for Tulsa standards...

I bet her commute is about 25 minutes from driveway to office. The expressways are only bad here when it rains.

The BA is pretty busy but doesn't get congested too bad most of the time.  The only problem I have with it is when you are going westbound towards downtown, the part where I-44 intersects.  Lots of wild people changing lanes at the last second before the I-44 ramp, I always get far left and avoid it.

BA shouldn't be too bad. I hear of more problems on I-44 during commute times nowadays than the BA.

If she can work 7-4 or 9-6 it would be even better.

The BA is fine 75% of the time.  During peak rush hours you will have slow downs at major interchanges and on in from about memorial it slows down a bit through downtown.  If there is a crash you can get in serious trouble though... there is no viable alternate route from BA to the Utica square area.

I would alot 35 minutes in the AM to make sure I got there in time, though most days 25 would be fine.  She can use the extra 10 to grab a cup of joe in Utica Square.

For full disclosure, I love the midtown area near where your wife will work and have to advise you to move into the area.

So you guys ruled out Jenks?  Forrest Ridge would be a nice area as well.  BA schools, I believe which are on par w/ Jenks.

The highway is four lanes up to the I-44 interchange, I think.  Traffic flow doesn't seem too bad in either direction since they widened out the BAE all the way to BA.

I get on at 15th St. every morning around 8am which is the exit before the one your wife would use, traffic is usually 50-55 MPH and there aren't back-ups off exit ramps.

The bad part about forest ridge is that it is so dependent on 71st. You have one street that you have to drive for about 5 minutes before you get any other choices. I also know people who "live in forest ridge" but it looks like every other neighborhood and costs as much as similar houses in civilized areas of Tulsa metro.

Have not ruled out Jenks, Bixby, Union or S. Tulsa. The chief attraction at this point to forest ridge is a) proximity to a private school in broken arrow, and b) the devel. is similar to what we live in now and we like that.
