The world article is about how someone was wrongfully detained. The nuts-and-bolts of it is that he was under arrest anyway. Also, he could've posted bond at any time, just didn't know it.

He was:
* Driving a (possibly) stolen car with a fake Vin#
* Had no driver's license
* Had no insurance
* Had no green card or other documents on him

Also many oppose having an immigration enforcement office in Tulsa, but the root cause of the problem here is that it took a while to get ahold of immigration officials because they weren't in Tulsa.

?

driving with no license and or documentation to prove who he is,no insurance,and possibly a stolen car.Seems like the police were justified in holding him until he posted bail.

He is legal, has a green card but was detained anyway.  According to the article police can put a detainer on any non-U.S. Citizen.

Now Tulsa's majority ethnic group is Irish and the U.S. has had a problem with Irish illegals but you can rest assured the police policy means they will check Latinos.

As one officer said in an earlier story, "it's a Hispanic thing."

I've seen some incredible racism in Tulsa recently.  I've finally come to believe that the English and Irish rival the Germans in their propensity for racism.

What the heck, under Baby Bush the U.S. has held U.S. Citizens without giving them access to an attorney or the courts.

Anyway, I'm afraid I haven't been my usual positive self recently and I have to say that I sincerely wish that ever person in Tulsa without proper documentation would leave tomorrow.  They deserve better than Tulsa and Tulsa deserves what would happen with their departure.

Not your positive self?

To me this just seems like a lot of confusion being blown out of proportion. I'm sure someone is going to say this is a result of the interest in checking immigration status of all felnoy arrests.

Driving with out a license is a jailable offense in itself....

Just because he had a green card, doesn't mean he got it legally.  There are tons of forgeries out there which is how a lot of these people get jobs and government services illegally.

HT- Why don't you be Moses and lead the illegal aliens back to the promised land?  The rest of us will stay here and live in harmony with the ones who migrated legally.

In other words, flame out to Texico or Mexifornia and take them with you. Answer the call and lead your people out of this wilderness of racists.

My question is:  How did the officer know to stop him?  Was there another traffic violation not mentioned.  I don't really think you can see vin #'s as you are driving.
