Mayor's Plea: Many Downtown Restaurants Struggling

I applaud the Mayor using the bully pulpit.  My only concern is that DTU wants NAMES of who sent what and how many and what not.  That sounds like a lot of pressure, and speaks to how desperate things must be.

Also, the Mayor points to the A-ream-a, not street construction, as the culprit.

Following this posting, the initiative has picked up mentions on KTUL, KOTV, and KFAQ.  We can all credit Grizz for making an offhand suggestion on the other thread RM alluded to.  See, people, your opinion matters!

On the odd day I have a good idea, I should make a shirt or bumper sticker so I can claim credit.

Better be quick about it, otherwise other people will take credit and profit off your T-shirt and bumper sticker ideas, just like Forrest Gump. [;)]

Tell me more about this "Greens" place that has chicken and dumplings on Thursdays.  What's the address / building?

East side of boulder, just to the south of the main mall parking garage.

No reasons the restaurants downtown would be worse off now than a few years back.  There are actually MORE jobs downtown and the construction discourages people from leaving the area for lunch.  Hope they do well but if they fail they fail...

Falls back to DTU's desire to instill life in down town. They should have thought of that years ago prior to all the parking lots replacing historic building. Its too late folks.

Sooooo.... now the mayer can tell us where to eat? That's fine with me if it's on her tab.

Not everyone has a lot of money and eating out a lot is not in the budget.

With the price of gas, groceries, daycare, utilities and huge house and car payments... eeek.

Kathy Taylor might not have to deal with those things in her world - but they are very much present in the real world.

I know she has good intentions - she just needs to get in touch with reality. We don't brown bag it because it's fun and tastes good.

I ate lunch at the Blue Dome Diner (Cafe?) today.  It was one of the best luches I have had in quite a while.

I think the mayor's point was to encourage those of us who buy our lunches any way to stay downtown at lunch.  I am sure she didn't mean to tell you it is your civic duty to stop taking your lunch to work.

Who wants to eat downtown with some wineo's taking a leak out in front of the restaurant?
