I can still remember when the Village, Southroads, and Parklane were single screen theaters. My favorite was the Continental. The first time I saw RHPS was at the Southroads Cinema in 1977 or 1978. I think I saw it about 50 times during my junior high and higschool years. Another unforgetable time was going to see "Up in Smoke" at the Spectrum Twin.

I liked RHPS about as well as A Clockwork Orange.  Tedious and boring.  Only scene I cared for was Meatloaf riding a 1942 Harley WLA military bike onto some soundstage, I believe it was.

I might not have been in the proper altered state to watch either of those.  I can say that Pink Floyd's The Wall, and Tommy were far better movies when viewed under the influence of something.

Speaking of the Village Cinema...someone recently told me that several months ago they passed by the theater and they had removed the Corvette sign and that the old Village Cinema sign was underneath it unscathed. Unfortunately, they weren't able to get back over there immediately and the next time they visited, it was no longer there.

I remmeber the Village Cinema. I went to many a film there; I saw "St. Elmo's Fire" there in 1985, for instance.

I first saw it in early 1981 I think. I enjoy it every time, and still know all the words to "Science Fiction, Double Feature."

Good times, good times. For me, it's all a matter of who's doing it, and where.

Does anyone know where it is playing in Tulsa? I was raised in OK City and moved to Denver when young and moving to Tulsa in next year (tooo expensive in Denver! I can buy a house for how much rent is here!)There is one of the two non-stop casts since it started here in Denver, so I have seen the 174 times live and would like keep up the tradition with my wife :) Any information be useful

A far, far better movie about rock 'n' roll transsexuals is "Hedwig and the Angry Inch."

Finally saw it, very good flick.  Thanks for the suggestion.

A far, far better movie about rock 'n' roll transsexuals is "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." It had a coherent plot, and had songs that most rock bands would die for. The main reasons the songs were so effective was that Bob Mould, longtime guitarist for Husker Du, was playing lead guitar throughout, Stephen Trask could actually write engaging songs, and John Cameron Mitchell sounded like a young David Bowie.

I happened to see Stephen Trask's name in the credits for The Station Agent.  The music for The Station Agent is an interesting contrast to the Hedwig songs.  For the Hedwig film, Trask's vocals were dubbed in for the songs performed by Tommy.

You'll be able to see aliens fighting Brad and Janet beginning October 19th when American Theatre Company presents The Rocky Horror Show on the John H. Williams stage at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.

Circle Cinema runs the film from time to time.

For me, it all depends on which cast is performing it.
