A Tulsa Limerick....

There once was a county called Tulsa,
Where once there had been a good pulse(a)
The river ran dry, the citizens cried,
"We must have water or else(a)."

So the leaders they put up a plan,
But the nabobs were all of one clan,
They said "not now, not here,
Our money is dear,
We'll fight you to keep it just sand."

The wealthy were looking for write-offs
The people were looking to sign-off,
As media grew fat
The northsiders sat,
And wondered just why they were put-off.

In earnest the fighting commenced,
With signs they covered the fenced,
Though logic was spare,
The comments were shared,
Our cities exposed as quite dense.

So now the voting draws nigh,
The clans are sitting on high,
Our decision is murky,
The populace quirky,
Will Tulsa increase the pie?

Feel free to add verses if you like.....

Pie in the sky? It's not pie in the sky.
It's smiling faces and rowing races.
It's about community it's all about unity.

Let's end all this human strife.
put an end to the wildlife!

Let's float along on a Kool Aid premonition,
Dreaming of renderings that won't see fruition.

Pie in the sky?  Ain't no pie in the sky...

Be nice now. I could have slashed and burned.[8D]

With citizens clearly devided
I can't wait til this thing is decided
There's just one more day
til it all goes away
Maybe we'll have a river with water inside it.

Vote No and be scared?
Vote No and burn?
Vote No and be slashed?
I'm aghast!

Vote Yes is okay
Vote No is not bad

CAVEmen or children we'll all get our day,
But this tax must go away!

Affirmative, yes, oui and si,
All mean positive things to me.
To those against
and dem on the fence
Don't be part of negativity.
Power is nothing till you use it.

From spring to summer the river did flow.
And a 'plan' thought great was given a go.

A couple of leaders got together.
Hmmm they said we can make OUR lives better.

We'll take this money and add a tax.
Then tell our subjects "sit back and relax".

Another donation and add a bridge right here.
We have the answer, you've nothing to fear!

The potholes grew, the bridges they crumbled,
The CAVEmen united and created a rumble

We love our river don't get us wrong.
We've seen the 'Vision',  finished the song!

Finish the Vision, finish the study,
No reason for you to get so greedy!

Another day we'll give you our dollars.
OH Stop the negativity they hollered!

Negativity? The CAVEmen asked so perplexed.
Since when did reality become so stressed?

No or Yes that's up to you
But right now I'm really through..I promise LOL

There's a gaggle of some undecided,
A gaggle the others derided,
We'll soon know the response,
To the snickers and taunts,
Their answer will make us delighted.

And with these thoughts we say goodnight

Whether No is right
Or Yes is right

The Battle of the Moat
Needs your Vote

'Doing' the River

Vote yes'ers were like the Pied Piper
Confronting perpetual gripers.
They needed a stash
Of the Chamber pots' cash
Just to keep all those children in diapers.

Vote no'ers just couldn't see
Past the rich, with their Champaign and Brie.
They were thrown off their axes
By the prospect of taxes.
Sure they want all that stuff, but for free.

Kathy Taylor took plenty of heat
For attempting an intricate feat.
Buy a river bank mall,
And a new City Hall
(But please no one mention the streets).

The citizens all had a laugh,
On Commissioner Perry's behalf.
Could he have it both ways?
'Yes' (but 'no' in BA)?
Can't we just cut the river in half?

What about John Smaligo?
His support was a bit touch and go.
Would he stay and make hay
With the sayers of 'nay,'
Or dine on conservative crow?

And don't forget poor Randi Miller,
Our little amusement park killer.
Once she waded knee-deep
In the river to steep,
The Zingo could no longer thrill her.

They mumbled, but Eagleton knew
What Commissioners had said since age two.
"Let's do this for free,"
He said, "WWCD."
"I'm sure it's what Churchill would do."

Jack Henderson wanted no part.
He'd rather try landing Wal Mart.
When Kaiser came forth
To placate the north,
He heard, "Move the river up here, for a start."

Vic Vreeland said it's a boon.
For Jenks it could come none too soon.
The Drillers were fond
Of the banks of Jenks pond
(A.k.a. Tulsa's sewer lagoon).

Sand Springs leaders all know,
To help make the Arkansas flow,
It's an arduous race
To get a dam to replace
The one they pulled out years ago.

To some it was neutrally viewed,
But the paper was in a 'pro' mood.
In every page of the World
The 'Yes' banner unfurled.
Lord, even the want ads were skewed.

The polls say it's heads or it's tails,
But whether it passes or fails,
It was a lesson hard-earned,
But I finally learned
Just what 'doing' the river entails.
