I suspect some know this, but there is a company that is putting vending machines in town that rent movies for $ 1.00 per day.

We have been using the one at the grocery at 101st and Memorial and have been very pleased. Super easy to use with a good selection. It's affectionately known as the, "Red Box."

Just this week they put one at the WalMart Market at 81th and Sheridan. Would highly recommend. We are going to try to wear that one out.

As in $1 per 24 hours or $1 on the day before midnight and another $1 for the day after midnight?

And how about HD and Blue Ray?

I believe these are franchised, you can buy a machine if you want.

They charge your credit card a deposit. I saw some people fighting with a machine because they couldn't get their movie checked back in.

Its due by 7:00 p.m. the next day. As far as problems are concerned we have had only one. That was trying to get the machine to take the movie back. Then we discovered we had the CD backwards in the case. We corrected that and have had no other problems.

Do not know of HD or blue ray with these machines. Just down and dirty movies.

No HD, then it doesn't work for me.

Speaking of movies - and HD - I read online that Walmart has a Toshiba HD DVD player on sale today for like $100 - one-third the normal price. But, the flyer said that prices may vary in Oklahoma. Does anyone know:
1 - if the player is offered in our Walmarts
2 - if the price is the same
3 - if price is not the same, why?

Do we (OK) have a law that a retailer can't sell an item below cost? (Like in WI and other states)?

I started on thread on that question.

Thanks restored. I started this thread about a retailer service that my family enjoys. As such I thought it worthwhile to let everyone know. Oh, but now we are into anti-trust. Good move.

Here's something new I have seen at alot of truck stops~ they are selling/renting what they call "Throw away DVD's" you pay a few bucks and can watch the DVD all you want for up to 48 hours. Then you chuck it into the trash. The DVD is time coded and self degrades once it is inserted into a DVD player. After 48 hours it will no longer play. To me it just seems like a way to make extra trash.

This is not new, many McDonald's restaurants had this "Red Box" for a few years up here in Ohio & Indiana. This may just be new in the Tulsa area I guess. They are now expanding to other locations.
