The other day a friend emailed me asking about "remember that website..." so I emailed him a list of all sorts of those websites.  Mostly videos as it turned out, nonetheless; here is a list of the classic internet sites/videos:

I think commercials would have to be an entirely different list (the Awia Sound Another One Bites the Dust and tons of foreign ones).

And Chocolate Rain is one of the newer ones, just last summer.  Nonetheless, the thing is amazing - in one way or another.  He banked off of it with a Cherry Chocolate Rain commercial for Dr. Pepper.

If you want to imagine my horror, I have that coupled with the Hamster Dance stuck in my head.

Chocolate Rain was 2007, Tay Zonday (fake name) has several original and cover songs. Chocolate Rain is by far the weirdest.

BTW- Diet Cherry Chocolate DP- nasty, nasty stuff, I don't think even Everclear could improve that crap.  Tried it once- bad move.

I bought a 2 liter, mostly because of the song actually.  I was not a big fan at all, but my boy likes it.  of course, since he doesn't get to drink pop I think he'd like any nasty thing I called pop and let him have.  Nonetheless, the commercial was well worth the 99 cents I spent on it.  T, A, Y to the Z.

Those are all great, if not still a little recent to be considered Classic.

A true classic would be the Trojan Room Coffee Machine.

O.K...so not very entertaining. This was the first site I ever visited on the WWW. I'd had ftp/telnet/archie access for a few years in the early '90s. When I found NCSA Mosaic (Firefox's great-grandaddy) and Lynx, there wasn't much to look at. The only other site that sticks in my head from that period was the Strawberry Pop-Tart Blowtorch's site. Man...I'm digging that HTML 1.0.

My 5yo (who does a great Numa-Numa Gary impression) will never know a internet without Google and YouTube; decent streaming audio and video (no RealPlayer stuttering!); Bittorrents; Wikipedia (toss out the World Books) and instant access to news around the world.

Thanks for posting your list, CF. I still know of a lot of people who haven't seen a lot of them. But, you got Chocolate Rain going in my head all day. Damn you. At least you didn't add 2 Girls 1 Cup or Goatse!

...and Odd Todd is fantastic! It came out right at the same time that I lost my Telecom job and really hit home.

Gonna go drink some cof-fay and stare at the wall for a while.

You want to know how fun a girl will be, show em the smartbeep commercial.  The cool girl will laugh, the stuck up girl will... stick her nose up.

Alright Janice!

we vs us

This thread is pure internet gold.  I'd completely forgotten my old friend All Your Base Are Belong to Us.

I'd like to humbly submit The Llama Song for your listening/viewing pleasure/pain.

Please, in the name of all that's holy, have another song ready to bump this one out of your brain, because if you don't, it will stick there and slowly become part of the grout.

PS. The only way to make this thing stop is to hit the back button.  There is no pause.
