Just ignore him, CF et al.  You've already won your argument, although he'll never acknowledge it. He's like a cold sore--once it's around, it ain't going away, so just avoid contact in the first place.

FB - the new ice will cost a fortune!

Reality - the new ice will be less expensive than the current set up.

FB - blah blah blah blah blah.  Tulsa sucks. Blah blah blah.

Who said Tulsa sucks?  Not me.

Our leadership here, is however miserable, and eternally dancing to their puppet-master Oligarch Familia overlords.

Comparing as you do old ice to new is comparing Apple crates vs. Orange cases. Again.

The ice rink in the Convention Center is already PAID for.  PAID FOR.

The new BOK Arena requires an ice rink to be installed.  At what cost?

Certainly a huge cost.

And, you PURPORT that over 8 years the operating costs of the new ice rink will be lower than the running rating operating costs for the Convention Center ice rink?

Like, in eight years, whose gonna be accountable if the claim is bogus?

You?

The politician mouthpieces offering such offal will be gone.

Charles Hardt will be gone.  Mike Kier will be gone.  Chatty Kathy Taylor will be gone.

Even RecycleMichael will be gone (predicted myocardial infarction, reportedly due to reading a certain dissident posts on www.Tulsanow.org Forum).

But, he does receive a wonderful, expansive and FREE Obituary in the Lorton's World for carrying their agenda by vacumning those pesky NO RIVER TAX Campaign Signs from the City Right of Way.

Easy Does It, RM.  We want you around Tulsa for a LONG time.  You're needed!

We'll just get more new lies by the new selected politicos to explain after eight years that the new ice rink in the BOK Arena ends up costing more than projected.

Just make up a reason. Any reason.

Like, increases in the price of maintenance.

The old lie will be replaced by a new lie.

Here's an old lie we've heard from our local politios:

We need to add the infrastrucure during construction to someday build additional floors to the new central library, circa 1965.

New lie.

We need to build a NEW Grand Central Library, to provide a new Day Center for the Homeless.

Uh, didn't we already pay about 40 years ago to have the infrastructure in place to build two additional floors on the Central Library.

Answer: Never mind.  That's different. Just move on.

New Lie:  We need to build a new free-standing $140 million jail.

Uh.  Didn't the Tulsa County taxpayers already pay to have the infrastructure added to the Tulsa County Annex building circa 1980 so that additional floors (like for a JAIL) could be added upwards, at minimal cost?

Answer:  Never mind. That's different. Just move on.

And, just looking at the numbers that CannonFodder helpfully provided on the city energy study, it estimates that:

Annual cooling of the new Arena will run:  $925K

and,

Annual heating of the new Arena will run:  $410K

These are $1.3 million in NEW costs in the city operating budget.

BEFORE SMG's fee.  Before cleaning, maintenance, and security.

Uh, and those are Trigen contract costs.

The electricity from AEP, to light up that Iconic facade, is EXTRA.

Not listed.....No estimate.

Taxpayer hose job.

[:O]

I would really appreciate you not discussing my death and how you think I will die in the next eight years. That is a very inappropriate conversation.

I was not involved in this thread in any way.

Please stop it, friendly bear.

man we gotta share stories over a beer sometimes, this stuff is great.  I suggest we construct the "other table" at Topeca on the 29th.

EricP

I think we should just demolish the entire city, then we wouldn't have any maintenance costs to pay and we wouldn't have any pesky people around to bother us. We could just hobble around on the pile of rubble and be glad that we aren't paying one cent to maintain it.

I suggest Laughter as the antidote.

However, you were whining like a little girl about the ice costing too much money.  You failed to address the fact that the NEW ice is replacing OLD ice.  Since the new system will be way more efficient the constructed of a giant slab of ice to replace the existing giant slab of ice will actually save the tax payers money.

So unless you are suggesting Tulsa build a venue without the ability to host ice events, your point is entirely off base.

If you wish to discuss other ancillary matters in a different thread, fine.  But your concern about the ice in the BOk center in this thread has been well and truely debunked.  Crawl back into your cave.

Me, Whining LIKE a little GIRL??

OOPS!

VERY politically incorrect!

I thought you had retired from this Topic.

Guess not.

Try lying down, and thinking pleasant thoughts of skinning, grilling and wearing a certain Forum poster.

That should relax the Angina.

And, suggest you rent the DVD of "The Edge", to relax............

Sounds like fun.

I'm the one-legged Tranvestite black dwarf driving the big Harley.

I'll be wearing a "McCain's the Man" campaign button.

How will I recognize you?

Vroooom.

Ooops, on second thought, may need to cancel...

Feb. 29th signifying a Leap Year, the ladies are allowed to Propose, and I haven't a thing to wear!

Woot!
Add the debt service on the Mayor's Borg Cube, and we may want to all move to Haskell to escape the coming tax increases.

Back to the actual topic:
Thanks for the impressive photos of the arena.  Seeing these makes you realize just what "all the fuss is about."  I never really appreciated the design until I went on the tour.  Now, I realize that Tulsa can be proud of having a truly unique arena.  (Compare to the OKC Ford Center and you'll see what I mean. Yawn.)  People will travel to Tulsa just to see the Pelli design.  We're going to be the topic of a lot of national press when it opens.

When I first saw the design, I thought, "Huh?  Why not something nice and traditional in brick?"  Now I get it.  Thanks for the photos, as a reminder.
