C'mon give us the scoop about this phantom development down here. God knows we need something...anything.....I can only go to Lowe's or Wal-Mart(which is Tulsa anyway) so many times.

There is the Super Target coming, perhaps a larger more impressive development is going to go along with it than we assume?

I mean, if they ever get around to building the damn thing.  Wal-mart already retaliated and got a store up and running while that Target is still an idea on paper.

Wherever the location is, it will be good for Tulsa.  I think companies will begin to see that Tulsa's economy is strong right now even though the rest of the country is not doing as well.

Personally, they can build the Dave and Busters anywhere they want, the chances of my ever going there are slim.  I already have my pizza favorites.  As for the games, just not for me.  I am sure they will do plenty of business without my dollars and will not miss mine.
It's hard being a Diamond in a rhinestone world.

I don't think a Dave & Busters will work anywhere in Tulsa or the surrounding area.

We don't have a large enough population base, nor the tourism draw that this franchise likes to shoot for.

Can anyone provide a link to this source, because I don't think its going to happen.

That Super Target is going to be in Tulsa at 101st the last I heard. Has that changed? Bixby needs some development, especially on the South side of the river, in a bad bad way.

I always thought it was going in on the huge chunk of land on the northwest corner of 121st & Memorial.  But with the lack of anything ever happening, I suppose they could have changed plans?  But notice that Bixby has already done infrastructure/road work all along 121st from Sheridan to Memorial, in anticipation of there being developments all down that way.

How far to the west down 151st street (highway 67) is still Bixby?  That is where the next slew of south-of-the-river explosive development will occur.  I see 151st street between Highway 75 and Memorial a decade from now as looking like 71st street does now.  Or perhaps what South Memorial looks like now.

Counting Tulsa, these would be the smallest D & B's markets:
Omaha: 829,890
Tulsa: 905,755
Buffalo: 1,128,183
source: http://www.census.gov/population/www/estimates/CBSA-est2007-annual.html

Omaha is certainly not a national tourism draw, and Buffalo is close to Niagara, but the entire metro area has lost population for eight straight years.  To me, Tulsa seems like a good place for D & B's to diffuse their brand.  They've already started with Omaha.  The location and management will be the make-or-break.  71st/129th is quickly becoming part of the existing 71st st. retail area.  D & B's probably feels they will attract continued development at that intersection.

You don't have the tourism draw thato ther cities have, but you have ALOT of young business travelers that will go there after meetings, drink some beer and play their games.  Also many many people fly into Tulsa to go to Branson, they too will probably be inclined to stop and grab a bite.  I bet a D&B would flourish with the right managment staff.

People fly to go to Branson? Who are they? Ned Flanders?

I passed one of the D&B here in Dallas 2-3 times a week for about 4-5 years going to my Tae Kwon Do class...I don't know that it's what we'd call a "tourist attraction".  The handful of times we stopped in to grab a beer or two it was about 90% young males playing video games with maybe a few families eating and a moderate bar crowd.  I don't think Tulsa will be short on young males wanting to play video games.

about as dorky yes...working at the airport I see people everyday that fly in and drive over to branson! There isn't a close airport near branson that has the "flight selection" Tulsa does.  And I use the term "flight selection" modestly!

well I can tell you this.  Jiffy Lube is going forward and building at 121st/mem.  Think about the other Jiffy Lubes around town and their proximity to a certain retailer.  Think of what was at 71st/memorial.

But I'm not talking about that development per se.  I'm talking about the development at the SE corner of 101st/memorial.  Bixby City Council already had the reading for the final plat.
