The real reason Hillary stays in the race

I wouldn't ordinarily cite to Huffingtonpost as a source, but this is the only place I can find the video.  In a speech today, Hillary Clinton noted her reasons for not dropping out of the race:
quote:
My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.

To imply that she should stay in the race, just in case Obama is assassinated is unconscionable.  Yes, she should stay in the race if she wants.  But she needs to immediately apologize for this statement.  When an earlier supporter implied that Obama, as the first black candidate, risked assassination, she rightfully immediately distanced herself from that comment.  She knows that the Obama campaign has received bomb threats, and hate-based vandalism.  To even hint that he might be killed is deplorable.

I agree. She should immediately apologize for that remark.

There's a trail of dead bodies in the wake of the Clintons.  A bunch of unfortunate suidcides, plane crashes, accidental head shots, car wrecks, bathtub drownings, etc.  Might be a pretty bad omen or a warning.  [;)]

CONANspiracies aside, are you telling me the Huffington Report was the only source for this at the time? I'm looking elsewhere and am finding the same results.

She's hagin' around cause RFK was shot in June.
Now that's wrong.
So, does this qualify Obama as brave and portray Hillarity as sinister?
She's toast. Burnt toast.

She apologized.  I take her at her word that she simply meant to imply that contest can extend till June.  I cannot imagine that she would imply that she might get the nomination by Obama being shot, though it certainly sounded that way.  I hope she is more careful with her words in the future.

I'll just assume she wouldn't maliciously say what she said....... I'll just add it to her  collection of saying anything she can without getting called on it to get elected...

I'll put this in the gaffe category next to "sniper fire" and hope it wasn't a Freudian slip... what she meant to say was something like this...

from 3/6/08...

TIME: Can you envision a point at which--if the race stays this close--Democratic Party elders would step in and say, "This is now hurting the party and whoever will be the nominee in the fall"?

CLINTON: No, I really can't. I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.

She's done. The woman will say, try, or do anything at this point. She believes that she DESERVES the Presidency and it is being taken from her forcibly..

I've always disliked her, and now she is showing that face to the rest of the world.

I actually hadn't realized that she has made these statements in the past.  That causes me real concern.  And, though I know she apologized, her apology seemed more geared toward Ted Kennedy than Obama.

I still don't think she would have ever intended to imply that she might get the nomination if only Obama were assasinated.  Yet, her arguments in the past for why she is the best choice to go against McCain is that she is more vetted, more experienced.  She was quick to pounce on Obama over his "bitter" statement, arguing it showed he was not ready to run for president.

IMO, her assisination comment, coupled with her sniper fire comments, show she is not ready to take on McCain.  Despite her years in public life, she still is making horrible political gaffes.

The only alternative would be that she fully intended what her statement implied.

I think it reveals a flaw in her, for sure.

She has been under extreme pressure for weeks to withdraw from the media and Obama folk, even though she is very close and winning primaries. She is right that anything can happen and we have examples of it all over. Thinking about all of the possibilities and being constantly bombarded with the negativity has taken it's toll.

Still, she shouldn't say crass things. I am glad she quickly apologized.

I am astounded at how the media has taken this gaffe and pounded it home at us. It does give credence to the accusation that they are unfairly targeting her. Oberman was ridiculous. She looks tired, she talks tired and the remark didn't surprise me too much as it was true enough. Politically though, it was a mistake but not one motivated by ambition as much as fatigue. Robert Kennedy Jr. saw no malicious intent.

It sure diverted attention away from trophy wife Cindy McCains release of tax returns. What exactly does she do to earn 7million a year? She's not even a sports figure.[;)]

Say What? Hillary Clinton Does it Again

...Instead, she issued one of those tedious non-apology apologies in which it sounds like the person who is being offended is somehow at fault: "I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation, and particularly for the Kennedy family was in any way offensive."

Gee, thanks.  [B)]

I suppose. What's my agenda again?

Wait a minute...did you mean Cindy would do anything to back her agenda?
