attic insulation

I need more!!!  I'm not into do-it-yourself so I need a company.  Or person.  Or whatever.  Anyone have referrals?  And Thanks!!!!

I used Burnett to insulate my attic last September.  I can't off the top of my head remember the depth I got, but it got my R-value up to about 38.  I am thinking it was in the 10 to 12 inch range.  Anyway, it was less than 60 cents a square foot installed.  Here is there contact info.

Probably one of the easiest jobs you can do around the house, if you might reconsider hiring someone.  Just don't fall through the ceiling.

It doesn't hurt that bad but patching sheetrock is a little annoying.

Well, $357 later and my relationship still intact with my S.O., AND no falls through the ceiling my attic is now at R-39 and I hope to thumb my nose at AEP, PSO, ONG...etc, etc.

Bought the Green Fiber blow in stuff at Home Depot and it went pretty quick.  Word of advice if you do this, don't use the green blower, get the Force 1 blower.  Erik at the tool rental desk at 41st and Sheridan knows ALOT about what's needed for that situation.

Do you just blow it in on top of the old insulation, or do you need to remove the old stuff?  I'm thinking i might need to add some to my attic...of course, my walls don't have any so maybe it doesn't matter.

We applied it right on top of about an inch of existing insulation.  We removed some building materials (lumber and sheetrock) before we started.  

By the way the Burnett people were an excellent referral in case you don't want to do it yourself.
