So how exactly, did Google do this?  Did they drive down the entire street grid with a video camera?  It's a little creepy, if you ask me.

I checked my mother's house near 61st & Harvard & there's a pile of tree debris at her curb and newly cut firewood on the lawn, that would have been about a week after the ice melted off, she paid to have her limbs hauled quick as she could.

As long as it's on a public street, you can take all the images you like.

I did notice that on my street, the camera image of my car parked near my house blurred out the license plate number. So it appears Google has taken some precautions.

Here's a section on Wikipedia that explains the program and how it does it:

Long story short, it's a 360-degree camera mounted on a car.

Go to the corner of 105th & Sandusky and you can see a shadow of the car's roof-top.  Looks more like a space ship...LOL

My house is pre-ice storm, but my parents old house in Owasso is post-ice storm.  This is amazing.

Pretty cool.  I'd heard of Street View but never played with it.  Thanks for the link!

My house is post ice storm.  There are still huge piles of limbs in my yard and holes still in my fence.

oh boy, now all of the orange cones downtown will be immortalized forever.  yee haw.

google should have waited.

on the upside I now see that living in a gated community has its benefits.  my neighborhood leaves the gate open during the day but I guess if they see a gate they don't go through.

Gat's open during the day?  Sort of like a minimum security prison, I guess.

What's the point in leaving the gate open?  Is that so illegals can come and go freely to mow the lawns?

So, can we pay them to come back to Tulsa in April and May, when everything's blooming and green?!

If you consider most burglaries occur during the day when people are at work, the gates are little more than an illusion of security.
(Sorry for the tangent).

I noticed in my area the camera didnt go to the end of some dead-end streets.
Must be low-bidders :-)

That's great. I guess google is not finished yet doing Tulsa. I hope they get my city done soon. I think it's great, it's like touring a city without leaving your armchair. I used this street leve google alot.[:)]

That's what I'd like to know.  The Midtown views are fine, but most everything else is in the dead of winter or super early spring when everything is so stinking brown.  I have looked at many of the other cities they have on Streetview around the country and the only ones with a significant winter coverage are OKC, Greenville, SC, and Huntsville, AL.  It leaves a bad impression IMO.

Hey Gang~ they have my hometown of Columbus, Ohio done too, Must of just got done, I looked a few weeks ago & Columbus, Ohio was not done.. Today it's Street level all over the metro Columbus area... I was thinking on the google satellite photos my vehicle must be on them somewhere since I always park outside and when that photo was taken I had to be somewhere in Columbus. So far I have not been able to locate my vehicle, I looked at my apartment complex parking lot, my work parking lot and stores I shop at and did not see my old heap on any satellite pictures. I work 2nd shift so all the cars in the parking lot at my job are first shift workers.[xx(] [B)]

With the new Google facility going in near Pryor, maybe "they" will take a trip or two to the big city (Tulsa) and find out it's not so bad.

more vandalism happens at night though, which is what our gates are intended to prevent.  plus there are a lot of old people in the neighborhood that are on the neighborhood watch.
