The conduits are sticking out of the ground where the shelter is supposed to stand. Looks like it's still coming.

Quick, everyone bring the old lawn chairs from your garage!

Townsend

Anyone seen any Owassoan cheerleaders eyeballing that one?

RecycleMichael

Is it legal for me to reach in the fountain to get change for a parking meter?
Power is nothing till you use it.

dsjeffries

I think the bollards might protect that one. [:)]

There is no "in" to the fountain. You can walk up and touch it, it's only a fraction of an inch deep. It doesn't pool.

RecycleMichael

I ain't going to get in the fountain. I am afraid of water (not homophobia...hydrophobia).

Water makes you stupid. Look at surfers.

Even voting for water stuff hurts you. Look what the river vote did to Randi Miller's career.

Hopefully they don't turn it off at night like the Bartlett Square fountain.

small tables and chairs underneath the grove of trees at the southwest corner.  That will be the nicest area in the park, IMO.

Someone call 'Up With Trees' and get some trees along the north side of the park.

Otherwise, I'm glad to see this conversion from a surface parking lot.

Should they have created a parking lot underneath for way in the future?  Maybe the next park conversion.

Agreed. It's been running at night this week at least.

Trees on the northern edge would shade the street.

over the sidewalk or northern side of the park?  So what if they partially shades the street?  As it is right now it (the northern side) looks desolate.  Trees on the northern side of the park will also help better define the park boundary and make the park more identifiable...oh and make the walk along that edge far more pleasant.

Glad to see the park.  Guess I just have higher expectations and would like to see a spectacular park versus a good park.  On the other hand, a good park is eons better than a car park.

I wish I had saved a rendering of the amphitheater that was to go in on the west side of the park. It was a very snazzy looking, contemporary structure. The building had 2 different sides. On the east facing side it had the amphitheater type area. On the west side  was a place for a cafe type area with outdoor seating and what looked to be an area with a large map, kiosk/information center. And there were trees around the seating area. Right now the park looks empty and unfinished... and it is. This is not the finished park.
