Don't drink and ride!  Trust me on this one.  The juxtaposition of saddle and bladder coupled with increased kidney output and a bent forward riding position leads to far too many stops on the way home.

Besides, all that tequila and lime doesn't taste as good on the second trip through the mouth.

May you live in interesting times.

I hope he is OK.

He made a mistake. He probably deserves a second chance.

He is a good journalist and a positive member of our community. He is involved in non-profit work and has a history of using his job as a way to help others.

I have never understood how people classify a DUI as a mistake? A mistake is accidently mowing over a rock and hitting a window.  A mistake is backing out of a parking lot and tapping a pole that was in your blind spot.

How is making a conscience decision to drive drunk a mistake? How is hit and run a mistake?  He drove off after hitting another car or someone's property.  He could have easily killed someone.  I am not voicing my frustration to you recyclemichael, I just don't understand how it can be simply labeled a mistake.

He might be a great journalist, and do alot of things in the community, but he shouldn't get a free pass on these boards or anywhere else for that matter, simply because of two aspects of a person's life.

The word mistake is defined as:

mistake
Function: noun
Date: 1600
1 : a wrong judgment : misunderstanding
2 : a wrong action or statement proceeding from faulty judgment, inadequate knowledge, or inattention

I think people use the word to mean "he made a wrong judgement" or " a wrong action proceeding from faulty judgment."

I think a better statement would be that Jerry  made a poor decision. Now he will have to suffer the consequences of his actions.

I don't think he is a bad person or someone that deserves jail time and he doesn't deserve to lose his job. It's his first offense and he should be treated like everyone else.  He will probably have to pay a large fine and go to DUI courses.

I think it would be neat if he would allow a camera crew to go with him during his whole DUI process (court, talking to his insurance to see how much it will go up or if they cancel his coverage, finding rides to work or paying a whole lot of money to get a breath device put on his vehicle, DUI school ect.)

quit making excuses for your fellow cronies.  He came down and did a news story on your club meeting and now he's your best pal....puh.lease.  If this would have been anyone else off the street would you say the same thing?  I think not.

You don't know anything. I knew him before he came and did a story on TulsaNow. I feel sorry for him and agree with MH2010 that what he did was better described as he used poor judgement. I feel sorry for him because he is a likable guy.

You are a miserable curmudgeon. No one would care if you were in the same situation.

Bad things happen to bad people too. We just don't care as much.

Problem is.... The people that need to watch something of this nature would change the channel.

If it were only that easy you would have some long boring nights at work....

I hate to see this for it's bad for everyone involved. Just thankful no one was hurt.

I agree he deserves a second chance, but he's in a position that may not be so flexible. With a DUI is your license automatically suspended and if so, for how long? Jerry is not going to be much use to Channel 8 as a reporter without a valid driver's license.

Come on! Stop trying to give this guy a break. Trust me, he ain't a very nice guy... matter of fact he is a JERK! "With a Capital J"  I took his Speech Class at TCC, and he is one of the most arrogant son of a gun's out there today. I'm awesome at writing speeches and givin' them too. But, I got a B from him.  Everyday he called out students in the class and picked on them, it was so bad.  He even made a girl cry, I swear to God, he called her fat.   He must of gotten off on making people feel small.
When I saw his mug shot on the news, I was laughing so much I became to cry.  O' how the mighty have fallen.  I think he deserves whatever is coming to him, but for me, I hope he gets the needle!

The incident almost seems to put a less demonic face on getting a DUI, as if it can happen to anybody, or it was just his turn.
Glad no one was hurt.

At .08 BAC, it could happen to ALOT of people.
It's easy to tell you had too many when your BAC is .12 or above.  It's alot harder to know when you are around .08.

I always wanted to take a small alcohol breath tester to a local bar along brookside or somewhere else where people usually just drink socially.  I would want to go around 5:00 on a Thursday or Friday to catch the after work crowd. Hopefully, people would let me test them when they leave for free and with no consequences.  I would ask that everyone that blows between .08 to a .1 tell me what they had to drink. I think everyone would be suprised at how little it is.

.08 gets you in BIG trouble.  I believe the limit for lesser trouble is .04.  Basically, anything more than one drink will get the average sized person in trouble, if caught.

Buddy, ya got the WRONG drink.  Try the five-liter box of Frenzia Red.  9.99 at your fav liquor store.  Goes down smooth.  Nice buzz on the bike.  AND, cheap for the whole group to share!

Lug a box to your next group ride and watch the cute chicks SWARM.  I got the lug-n-chug AND the NAKED bike ride, all CAUGHT on TAPE.  [:D]
