I hate to see this for it's bad for everyone involved. Just thankful no one was hurt.

I agree he deserves a second chance, but he's in a position that may not be so flexible. With a DUI is your license automatically suspended and if so, for how long? Jerry is not going to be much use to Channel 8 as a reporter without a valid driver's license.

it probably wouldn't make a difference.  From what I have seen around town, usually the reporter is driven by the camera man, and they are "chauffered" around.

His license will be suspended for 6 months whether or not he's actually convicted of DUI. It gets suspended any time you blow over the limit or refuse the test, no matter what goes on your record.

I've known 5 or 6 people who've gotten DUIs (> .1%, limit back then) and none have had any kind of suspension.

Only one of those had to get the breathalyzer installed in her car. Interestingly enough I heard she drove home from a bar drunk once after she got it installed and halfway home it shut off her trashy car in the middle of the road. Honking the horn and flashing the lights. A cop stops and just follows her home the rest of the way to make sure she drives ok. (she wasn't even cute or anything)

I don't think so.  Like the previous poster said, it is automatic.  Nothing to do with the court or the police.  Fail or refuse the breathalyzer and your license is suspended.  Although I'm sure there is some type of appeal.  I'm not sure how often those would be successful.

BTW, the person that drove with the machine in her car had her license suspended/modified.  That is why she had that machine.  The others either had the machine, or drove on a suspended license.  That is if they had the DUI's in recent history.

The incident almost seems to put a less demonic face on getting a DUI, as if it can happen to anybody, or it was just his turn.
Glad no one was hurt.

No, it can't happen to anyone.

Responsible adults, who use DD's, or a taxi,
or don't put themselfs into that situation
in the fist place will never have that happen
to them.

Never.

Responsiblity for ones actions.  What a concept.

I forgive him.

He simply "misdrank" and then "misdrove."

When attacked by a mob of clowns, always go for the juggler.

Well...Stu, at least we know it wasn't a grammar class.  Do you write speeches for G.W.?

So..do we know yet?  Was he canned?  I can see them making him agree to treatment, but would be surprised if they fired him.

But hell...if they do..he could always work for Fox 23.  I hear the only requirements they have are the ability to think up more ridiculous deeds to blame on pitbulls (i hear pits know the location of HOFFA), Tell us where we can find cheaper gas, and take a poll to determine is being a giant MO is worse than terrorism.

HA

I had another thought...granted..DUI - WRONG, HIT & RUN - VERY WRONG.

But excuseable...maybe.  I mean if the started enforcing random drug and alcohol for Radio & TV Talent...the pickins would be might slim.
I think the determination to hate your liver must be a pre-req on their resumes.
If you have ever been on a live remote...u know what I mean.

I actually thought having the "S*** scared out of you" was a figure of speech.

Poor guy.  I actually feel bad for him.

Wow...just, wow.  That other forum noted on here earlier alluded to that, but I thought that might just be embellishment.  Just...wow.

I bet that's the last we see of him, at least on KTUL.
