OMG, I cant think of a legitimate reason an officer would feel the need to mention that a suspect pooped his pants in an official police report.

How unprofessional.

I imagine that will be a question the officer will have to answer before a judge in a civil court.

Can you explain your thinking?  I don't see anything actionable about reporting facts.

There is such a thing as discretion.
Not all "facts" need to go into public documents.
Unless there was some compelling need to document a suspects bowel movements, the inclusion could be interpreted
as an attempt at humiliation (knowing it would be open record) and could be considered cruel and unusual.

The report should have stuck to the facts relevant to the infraction.

The City may have a valid case against Giordano, but because of this sophomoric lapse of judgement on some officers part, the reverse is also true.

I wonder if it goes to show the level of disorientation.

Ol' Jerry missed my fence by fifteen feet, apparently, taking out the fence of the direlect tear-down behind me.  I am only surprised that this does not happen more often with cars flying through stop signs and punk kids bumping to Zink . . .

Sounds reasonable to me. The guy against reporting the pants-fouling used an "OMG" in his post so I say reporting it = good call.

How is reporting the facts cruel and unusual?  After reading the report, he had already humiliated himself by driving drunk, wrecking his car, running, and then trying to buy the cops off.  Would a sober person **** himself in the back of a squad car after being detained? Probably not.  The police are going to show that most reasonable people would not do that.  2 thumbs up for TPD!!

When judges sentence people to unusual sentences, for instance to make them wear a sign outside a store where they stole things from reading " I stole from this store, I will never do it again, this is my punishment."  That is humiliating, cruel and unusual? I think not.

Come on! Stop trying to give this guy a break. Trust me, he ain't a very nice guy... matter of fact he is a JERK! "With a Capital J"  I took his Speech Class at TCC, and he is one of the most arrogant son of a gun's out there today. I'm awesome at writing speeches and givin' them too. But, I got a B from him.  Everyday he called out students in the class and picked on them, it was so bad.  He even made a girl cry, I swear to God, he called her fat.   He must of gotten off on making people feel small.
When I saw his mug shot on the news, I was laughing so much I became to cry.  O' how the mighty have fallen.  I think he deserves whatever is coming to him, but for me, I hope he gets the needle!

"I'm awesome at writing speeches and givin' them too."

I call bull**** on that one.  Quit blowing your own horn.  You guys might really be pathetic students.

"OK" I might not be the best speech giver; matter of fact, I might of deserved that B he gave me.

Either way, Jerry is still a real JERK-OFF!!! He's a short arrogant prick.

This is where I get off,  "He is so rich that he can afford to buy off a cop."  Ya right, he has to work a second job, he drives an old beat-up BMW, and he lives in East Tulsa... (NO offense to people that live in East Tulsa)

If you aim to prove a suspect's intoxication, I'd suspect that the perp soiling himself is a pretty good indication that he's soused. It's another brick in the wall of evidence.

So, yes, it's relevant.

I am not defending JG but I guess no one here has ever had to make an emergency trip to the toilet.

If you follow the logic of your previous poster, it's proof that youre intoxicated.

To me, it came off as someone taking their frustrations with the media out on this guy.
It was a bad decision that TPD would probably like to make go away, if the disappearing links to the police report are any indication.

Patric, I thought you would be talking about the importance of police dash cameras that would have recorded this event for all to see.  It could even be public record so everyone could see Jerry intoxicated and soiling himself.

I think I'm more embarrassed about the misspelled word "reaptly" than I am about documenting the fact that he soiled himself.

The officer documented Giordano physical condition at the time of arrest, "unsteady on his feet, had red blood shot eyes, slurred speech and had an odor of alocholic beverage on his breath and person." as well as the "he lost control of his bowels and had feces running down his leg".

The department should never be embarrassed by an officer writing down the truth about what happened on a arrest and booking sheet.

Yeah, it would have been great if there were more dash cams: would have liked to see that constable in Bixby blasting five rounds in a store parking lot ineffectively at the drunk genius in cuffs who stole that car! Jiminy tap-dancing Cricket did he even hit the car?

No, it means that if you take that part along with the rest of his behavior in total, the cop has shown a very strong case of intoxication.

You have to report what the suspect was doing in case he challenges his DUI in court. The soiling himself strengthens the cop's case, without a doubt.

Hell, maybe there's a silver lining in this. Maybe Giordano will get the professional help for alcoholism that I think he needs.

I bet the rookie will never leave a prisoner unattended in his car again.  He was told that in the academy probably 1000 times.  Now he understands why.
