I thought you would be talking about the importance of police dash cameras that would have recorded this event for all to see.  It could even be public record so everyone could see Jerry intoxicated and soiling himself.

I would have less problem with an unbiased video record of an arrest than I would offhand remarks about someone's bowel movements.

There was nothing biased about what he wrote.  When the level of intoxication is high enough people lose control of their bodily functions.

Yeah, it would have been great if there were more dash cams: would have liked to see that constable in Bixby blasting five rounds in a store parking lot ineffectively at the drunk genius in cuffs who stole that car! Jiminy tap-dancing Cricket did he even hit the car?

I bet the rookie will never leave a prisoner unattended in his car again.  He was told that in the academy probably 1000 times.  Now he understands why.

it was a TPD officer today and considering his brother he is going to catch heck....

If there had been more cams we would also have the arrest of the former city attorney for DUI on tape, before he faked a heart attack in the "sally port"and the arrest disappeared [;)]

Come on! Stop trying to give this guy a break. Trust me, he ain't a very nice guy... matter of fact he is a JERK! "With a Capital J"  I took his Speech Class at TCC, and he is one of the most arrogant son of a gun's out there today. I'm awesome at writing speeches and givin' them too. But, I got a B from him.  Everyday he called out students in the class and picked on them, it was so bad.  He even made a girl cry, I swear to God, he called her fat.   He must of gotten off on making people feel small.
When I saw his mug shot on the news, I was laughing so much I became to cry.  O' how the mighty have fallen.  I think he deserves whatever is coming to him, but for me, I hope he gets the needle!

"I'm awesome at writing speeches and givin' them too."

I call bull**** on that one.  Quit blowing your own horn.  You guys might really be pathetic students.

"OK" I might not be the best speech giver; matter of fact, I might of deserved that B he gave me.

Either way, Jerry is still a real JERK-OFF!!! He's a short arrogant prick.

This is where I get off,  "He is so rich that he can afford to buy off a cop."  Ya right, he has to work a second job, he drives an old beat-up BMW, and he lives in East Tulsa... (NO offense to people that live in East Tulsa)

You know, I do not think this is Jerry's first 'DUI problem", I actually think this is about his third, he has been able to 'make them go away' do to his popularity.  Nevertheless, the hit and runs will be felony, esp since a resident interacted with him.
I have 'encountered' Jerry myself a few times and he is a real jerk and VERY stuck on himself.
I agree, he's a real a**-ho#! and shouldnt receive any more special treatment just because he works (or maybe worked) at channel 8

I agree, this can't be jeryy's first DUI, I'm sure that Crazy A** Drunk got a boat load of them back in the day.

Any word yet on his future at Channel 8?

I'm pretty sure you'll get the death penalty in Texas if you take a dump in the back of a squad car.

Okay.. I just joined solely to reply to this thread that I ran across on google.com©. I simply cannot believe that anyone has the gall to attempt to defend this cretin. This guy is forty-seven years old, and a member of the press. To be sure this guy has been invited to many events that involve liquor in his life and should know when he's too drunk to drive. What's more is that he attempted to bribe the cops (according to the report) asking 'what would it take to make this go away'. No respect from him regarding the enormity of his offense, and no remorse from me in flushing this guy onward to his next TV job in some market where he doesn't have a record.

Hey, what's the deal?

There are far bigger drunks on TV right now than Jerry. The police didn't take his "what would it take to make this go away" as a real bribe, just drunken ramblings.

OMG, I cant think of a legitimate reason an officer would feel the need to mention that a suspect pooped his pants in an official police report.

How unprofessional.

It's standard procedure to detail all the facts of an arrest. Not doing so would leave room for all sorts of legal challenges or outright false accusations.

The suspect could claim he was treated cruelly by the officers by being forced to sit in his own feces for a lengthy period of time. Instead they documented that EMSA was called to clean him up.

Imagine if the arresting officer had NOT included that in the report and there was an internal investigation. It would look like they were trying to cover up misdeeds on their part by not including it in the report.

I would tend to agree with you on that.

The issue seems to be here that most people don't have enough notoriety to create the curiosity for someone to post their police report on a public forum.  I'd also imagine that very few of us on here have ever seen a police report that said someone crapped their pants so it would be easy to assume someone was sharpening his fangs based on who the arrestee was.

Just based on the fact that some of our police cruisers are equipped-with injection-molded rear seats is pretty good evidence that the release of bodily functions in a police car isn't terribly uncommon and anticipated.

Looks like he is staying at KTUL.  I've met him and he's a good guy.  I've had a couple of friends with DUIs and they are also good people.  Good people make mistakes.

Here's what aired on KTUL.

If there are far bigger drunks on TV that end up in people's front yard, they should get clipped. If that's how KTUL wants their anchors to behave then that's another reason not to watch them.

I'll go solicit a prostitute then make a bit for KTUL to show. No harm really... I'm sure we all know someone who has used a hooker before.

I saw him back on the air tonight, doing a report on the 10PM newscast.

He made a mistake, but he is a good reporter.
