guido911, shame on you for trying to hijack an informative thread.

Back on topic,  I had lunch today at the White Rabbit Deli in the Brady district, on the corner of Main St and Cameron.  They are open for breakfast and lunch.  I had a cup of soup and a southwest chicken wrap sandwich.  Cute place and very very clean.  Homemade cookies and other baked goods like muffins.  Give them a try.

I wish more downtown places would give dinner service a try. [:(]

If hemp honey made the cookies and muffins, they'd have a lot more customers. Then it would be a true arts district....Some might come from far away places!

+1

Downtown now seems to be divided between the lunch/breakfast places near the denser office areas and the dinner/ burger places farther out on the perimeter.  I can see why Billy's wouldn't want to be open for dinner (no foot traffic after 5 pm), but you'd hope there would be some better options.

Granted, Casa Laredo is opening up and that's a start, but you want more fine dining downtown than what we have (and I don't consider Laredo to be fine dining, though I have a soft spot for it).

We really need a good kebab place or a NY style pizza thing that is open all hours.

I'm really hoping with the new attractions downtown (Arena/Ballpark) that it will be viable for more restaurants to open for dinner.  Plenty of times during the week we want to grab dinner downtown, either just to support the businesses there or because we're going to a show.  The options really are limited.  I used to always fall back on Caz's Chow house, but for a while there, they just were randomly closed and when they were open, we were disappointed that they kept dropping items from the menu until there was very little to choose from.  At least they got that Wasabi dressing stuff back for the pickle chips!  Alright, I'm getting hungry.

The Daily Grill opens Monday.

I went their today for a preview lunch. They served me a pot pie that was the size of a hubcap. My wife had a wonderful salmon pasta dish.

The place is beautiful inside. The food was perfect. The staff superb.

It is my new favorite fancy place to eat in town.

The Daily Grill is inside the Crown Plaza Hotel downtown.  Doug Rudy, who used to tend bar at Tucci's is supposed to be going to work there.

Ah thanks, now I've put it together.  Looks like its worth a go.  Aside from the smell of fresh paint and some really odd check-in desk arrangement, and some road construction issues, oh and maybe a little much on the Christopher Lowell style, the Crowne Plaza really does look pretty good.
