Interesting factoid about the Creek Turnpike

Basically, using the creek turnpike to bypass 169 and BA interchange saves you a whopping ONE minute!  I did a route from the police chief's house to a point in Arkansas to see how a long distance trip plays out over time.

I think the tolls on that portion of the Creek bypass are like $2.50 since there are two booths that are $1.25 each.

1 minute for $2.50?  man that is bad. brings whole new meaning to the Tulsa Premium.

Likely it is a wash either way, the only difference maker would be some sort of wreck, or crazed gunman, on I-44 in Tulsa.  Whenever shutdowns occur, madness ensues.

I wonder if the Yahoo maps calculator even takes into account stopping at the toll booths?  If not, it would be possible that the Creek is SLOWER

While the Creek might be some what out of the way for a bypass, it can save time in rush hour and it can provide easy access into Tulsa for people living in south Broken Arrow.  It also provides great access around Broken Arrow.

The upcoming construction between Riverside and Yale could change this dynamic dramatically.

The questions are:

#1) Will ODOT (Im assuming they would be the ones responsible) even make an EFFORT to divert traffic around the mess?

#2) Will I-244 be the detour of choice, or will the Creek be?

#3) If I-244 is the detour of choice, will it be choked up as well?

These will be issues we face in 2150 when the construction begins.

I have thought about that, and I have thought about the late years of this century will we have private cars in the late 21st century? I'd like to know but I'll be taking a perm. dirt nap by that time.. I have even wondered about what it'll be like in around 2015 with fuel prices going up so fast today in 2008- and the democrats refusing to drill will gasoline be around $20.00 a gallon in 2015? It only costs $2.30 to drive the whole lenght of the Creek Turnpike (from SH 66 to US 412).  If you have a pikepass it's even cheaper, plus you won't have to stop to pay the tolls.  It's not like you have to drive on the turnpike.  And if you don't you're not even paying for the dang thing, unlike the "free" roads.

Edit:  The $2.30 is with the pikepass.

surely its faster than 55mph & less traveled than I-44 is through Tulsa.

I can't wait for that eastern toll road loop around Austin, TX to be completed.  I'd gladly pay 5-10 bucks to go around than have to sit in traffic for 20-30 minutes every freaking time I go through there.

From 169 and the Creek TPK to 412 and the Creek TPK, it is about 7 miles longer taking the Creek TPK than taking 169 to I-44/412.  I haven't checked lately but I thought the toll for that part of the Creek was $2+. Then there is the toll for the part between Memorial and the Turner Turnpike.

Speed Limit on the Creek ranges from 65MPH to 75MPH; about half is 75.
