It was a proposal with a firm date, the date was extended, then it was a deal that needed approval, got another extension, the tax approval got passed and ground was set to break, then a injunction was filed...  then the name sake donor went Bankrupt (couldn't they have waited another month!):

It is no secret that SemGroup LP and the Tom and Julie Kivisto Family Foundation were strong supporters of the new baseball park -- a pledge of $7.5 million and naming rights were in the works -- as well as other charitable organizations and arts groups.

Anyone know where this project is now?  Please no debate on the merits of the project here, just if you know or have any idea of what the status is.  It would be GREAT if Kivisto himself ponied up some cash or some other corporate entity stepped up to the plate.

But I've heard nothing substantive on this project since SemGroup starting shaking last week.

Yeah I wondered the same thing as it was going to be SemGroup Ballpark and now that company is bankrupt.  Maybe Quiktrip, Williams, ONEOK, DollarThrifty, etc. will step up to plate now.

Wait wait wait - did they succeed in getting an injunction, or just file the motion?  I didn't see this news yet.  Linky?

cannon_fodder

As far as I know, just the motion.  I have not followed it that closely.  My point was merely that it has been a see-saw lately and I don't know what's going on.

i think when this next extension is up Lamson owes it to Jenks to work an exclusive deal.  He already signed a non binding letter of intent.

Even the developers in Jenks know that bird has flown.

About Semgroup's donation, keep in mind that corporate donations are generally from the "so-and-so" foundation and not the daily cash flow of the company. Also keep in mind that bankruptcy as it applies to corporation means restructuring/protection and doesn't mean they're boarding up the windows.

My understanding is that they are going to have to find another source for the $7.5 million.  Which honestly, with as many generous people as we have in Tulsa, shouldn't be too terribly difficult.  I just want them to start.  Yesterday.

Come on, everyone in Tulsa, pony up $20.

Or they could just move the existing stadium instead.
