I didn't see it anywhere, but Channel 6 says there is another big announcement on Tuesday.  Possibly U2, Jay-Z or Madonna.

well, as much as i hate to jinx it...
according to the fan forums, u2 has prebooked (not announced) july-aug euro dates in 09...
most people bet on them having an early spring 09 US leg... so this would fit... plus, theyve played here twice before... im crossing my fingers that this is a smaller arena tour...

madonna has open dates so that is very likely...

jay-z would be very cool but monumental? not by tulsa's standards...

Twice? I just remember them playing the Brady summer of '83.  I had free tickets and passed.  I was taking summer school, had a major exam the next day and figured "They will be back" Yeah, then they released "The Unforgettable Fire", followed that up with "Joshua Tree" became big celebs, and have not been back in 25 years.

Did they play Cains before they played Brady?

As I recall, the Police played the Cains in '78 or '79 as did the Pretenders.

I might have to bow down to the scalpers if U2 comes back.

I believe U2 did play the Cain's back in 1981. I don't remember it at all, but saw an article about the Cain's that mentioned it. I think it was an Urban Tulsa article, but I am not positive.

This would have been very early for the band, Bono must have been 20 or 21 years old at the time.

I still think it's McCartney, but a U2 show would be "monumental" indeed.

brunoflipper

it is a "live nation" artist...
madonna 11/14/2007... you heard it here first.

I wore out my Boy, October, and War cassettes.  I far prefer their music from before they were discovered by top-40 radio, though not saying the rest of their discography is pure **** either.

I just read a report that U2 is scheduled to release an album in mid-November.

A tour, naturally, would follow.

So the plot thickens ...

U2's north american tour will start march/april 09... U2 will not be announcing dates for a tour BEFORE the 11/17 cd release of "no line on the horizon"...

It's a second Eagles show. I Love All Access has already put up the Nov. 11 date.

Maybe The Eagles could do a second show, but the NewsOn6 story said the city is "surprised the promoter could convince the act to come to Tulsa." The Eagles would not fit that description, since they are already booked to come in September.

I had not heard that McCartney was touring.

It may be that brunoflipper has called it right with Madonna. Tulsa Sooner mentioned her earlier as well.
