VP candidate Palin...Grandmother?

I have had three people e-mail me in the last twelve hours with stories about Sarah Palin lying about her last child.

The blogs are all abuzz that her sixteen year old daughter is the real mother and Sarah is part of a big lie by claiming to be the mom.

Does it matter?

The mother going to elaborate extremes to protect her daughter seems very honorable. Faking a pregnancy, asking a doctor to falsify certificates, then lying to your staff and friends is quite a price to pay. Of course, once you go into a lie of this magnitude, there is no going back.

If the rumors are true, does it change how you think of her? Does lying to the American people when introducing her family mean she will lie about anything?

I tend to think more highly of her as a mom for agreeing to act as the mother to protect her daughter. But I have to admit that it lowers my opinion of her as an elected official. To think that you can just make up details and lie about this makes me trust her less.

Wonder how she faked having her water break at a speech she was giving in Texas just before she gave birth?

Water balloons?

That is the most pathetic, far-reaching smear I have ever, ever read, RM.  Bizarre, desperate.  Ya'll do better to point out that 80% of her peers disagree with her life choices and abort their Down's babies.

Does it matter? To me, no. But I'm a tolerant Dem. To her party and its moral values platform? Absolutely. To those questioning McCain's judgement and diligence in executive matters? yes.

A lie at this stage of politics of such magnitude coupled with her poor decision to interfere with her sister's divorce by applying pressure, portrays a candidate with shaky foundations. We're all tired of this type  ofbehavior in public officials.

I doubt the rumor is true although after reading several of the accounts it certainly is plausible. How many mothers fly across country so late term? We didn't travel with ours. And did I understand this right...she travelled by airplane back to Alaska after her water broke? Curious. Simply not prudent. And that's the real insight here. Poor judgement by McCain and Palin in not forseeing this little tempest.

Dems should stay away from this rumor unless it gains more substance.

I love it!

And Gustov was engineered through cloud seeding by the military so that Bush wouldn't have to make an appearance at the RNC.

And John McCain actually died 6 weeks ago and was replaced by a robot.

You guys just need to realize that we are all floating around in pods, and this reality that we create is simply an illusion.

Oh, and John Lennon is still alive and living in a domestic partnership with Elvis on a remote tropical island.

ZZZZZZZZZ oooooold and busted.  Another psycho cop with a badge and a thin blue line.  She should allow him to threaten her family and drive around all drunk.  I am surprised she just did not go a-huntin . . .

You're losing more credibility each time you post. You assert that you have no dog in this race. Disingenuous, thy name is Gaspar.

If indeed you're just a cynical independent/libertarian then you assume the role of a bookie playing both sides for your own gratification. The bookie always wins as long as he balances the books.

Gustav has been rerated to a cat 2. Problematic for you. New bookie headline still lets you win..."God Forgives Michael Moore, Sends Blessings to Republican Convention".

G-dawg is just mocking the absolute stupidity of the charge that Palin had her own grandbaby.  That is the stoopidest thing I have heard since 'Brownie, yer doin a heckuva job.'

Flying off the handle again Tim. These are allegations in a divorce case and involve the probable abuse of power by an elected official. Thus an ethics investigation. What I would expect her to do is show professionalism.

Ever follow divorce cases much? Allegations of child abuse, drug use, mental illness, alcoholism, physical abuse are practically boiler plate charges by both sides. She works for the state of Alaska, not the family of Palin.

Its just entertainment. It would normally be on the front page of the Enquirer but in an election year it gets traction.

Brownie was on NBC this morning, he's still mad at how he got set up as the buffoon.

Hey calm down.

I don't know if I believe it or not. I trust that there are others who are looking into it and the truth will come to light.

I also don't think it is necessarily a smear. I said I admire her if it is true. To do that much to protect her sixteen year old is admirable to me. I don't know if there is anything I wouldn't do for my child.

Having a Downs syndrome baby would be difficult. I really applaud her for seeing this baby as a blessing.

Her ex Brother-in-law, an Alaska State Trooper, threatened to SHOOT her parents.

She took that as a credible threat, and had him FIRED.

He shouldn't be carrying a gun.

Simple, really.

P.S.  The news is out today:  Gov. Palin's 17 year old daughter IS pregnant, and will wed the father.

Which works better with teen-agers:  Practicing abstinence, or practicing Birth control?

I agree the conspiracy theory is pretty ridiculous.

I have to question anyone's judgment, however, to hop into a plane for eight hours after your water breaks. Like there wasn't a hospital somewhere around? Isn't that risky given the circumstance?

That's the only part of the story I find strange.

But it was her choice, I guess. And everything worked out OK in the end.

Her daughter is pregnant . . .

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080901/pl_nm/usa_politics_palin_dc

Good grief.  Fake pregnancy . . . maybe she flew on a plane to get home, she was aware of her child's condition and wanted to be where he could be cared for by phsycians she trusted in case there were any complications.  Maybe she had a dr on the plane with her flying home, a woman does estalbish a pretty tight relationship with her OB and since she knew her son had Downs, it probably added even more emotion to that relationship.
