What a surprise.

McCain actually wants to do his job and be a part of solving this mess.  He's a sentaor in a closely divided senate.  Every vote counts at this point, Obama's included.

Obama's clearly not interested in voting because it's too risky and since too many people are watching he can't vote present. He's running from his duty to help guide America through this mess.

The debate Friday night can and should be postponed.  No one is going to give a rat's donkey if the debate happens a few days later. If conventions can be postponed due to a natural disaster, a debate can be postponed for a financial crisis.

Obama better get on board with this or he's going to look foolish and selfish.

As we all know confession is good for the soul.

I guess it is my time.

"I am a whiner and the economy is actually in very sound shape."

Why should we give money to bail out the Wall Street Executives if we can't give them a "tax-cut" to go with it...?

That is the definition of true intelligence and foresight.....

Vote for cracker and white cake the obvious superior choices.

I love watching Repubs and their water-carriers spin a horrible decision (suspending the campaign after taking a beating in the polls, ask to postpone the debate) at all costs.

This may hurt McCain much more than he realizes.  How can you vote for a guy who can't multitask?

A sentaor can't possibly divide time between passing historic legislation in a 4 day time crunch and run a campaign.  I know Obama thinks he's the Lord Messiah and can do it all, but I expect the undivided attention of these jackasses when they're asking for 700 billion dollars of our money.

But it's not really fair to call IPLAW or Guido or Gaspar or Conan "koolaid drinkers" when they've been making lotsa koolaid lately... lawyers always make the best koolaid, ya know...

pity.

It's not about multitasking as the Lord Messiah would have you to believe.  Nor is the prudent response, "you've got my number" when we're in the middle of a crisis.

True leaders move towards the problem instinctively and actively engage in the process.  Losers ride the pine and wait to be told what to do.

If you want to talk about someone who wants to be a POLITICAL MESSIAH....

What's the problem here? I am very much in favor of McCain suspending his campaign. More razzle-dazzle Senator! We just love it when you're so impulsive, rash and narcissistic..er...Maverick. Yes we do.

I think he should suspend it for about three weeks then cancel it.

McCain Camp is trying to deep six the VP Debate out of fears that Palin will be a disaster. So, they are using this trumped Up "McCain Must be in D.C." excuse to say the First Presidential Debate should replace the VP Debate. A major poll today showed Palin as a major drag on the ticket and McCain is losing a point or two each day the economy is the headline story. So, they can't afford a Palin disaster. Pretty cynical.

"With respect to the debates," Obama said in Tampa, Fla., where he is preparing for the debate Friday night, "it is my belief that this exactly time that the American people need to hear from the person who, within 40 days, will be responsible for this mess... It is going to be part of the president's job to deal with more than one problem at once....In my mind, it's more important than ever that we try to present ourselves to the American people."

41 daze to go for McSame. Will he chant "Mission Accomplished!?"

Why would they want to cancel the VP debate???  Maybe they are afraid of another response like this:

I think it's pretty noble.  McCain realizes he's still on the SENATE payroll and as such has an obligation to the country which should take priority over his political aspirations.  FWIW, I've said all along that U.S. Senators and members of the USHOR should be required to resign their seat to run for higher office.  It's a taxpayer rip-off and they wind up being on the payroll, continue to rack up tenure on their pension and to recieve all other benefits whilst negleting their day job.

McCain's decision comes at the peril of losing the election in November.  I think it speaks volumes about really caring about big issues and not paying lip service to it at a time when decisive actions and not mealy-mouthed speeches are in order.

Personally, I can't vote for a guy who has been running for President since he was in high school.  Honestly, this is where experience is starting to show as real benefit on McCain's part.  Biden ought to be in DC right now as well if he is not.  These men have a job to do.  The election will still be there Nov. 4.
