Midway is criss crossed versus long runways.

Gone are the old cool generators replaced by underground PSO AEP power.

Gone is the $1.00 Coke Machine at the west entrance to the cabaret theater that stood there for the past 8 years.  It was just outside the door of the Pork Council's sandwich stand. Now all pop is $3.50 other than a few machines that were changed to a higher price of $2.00 just for the Fair.

Appeared there were way more food vendors than ever before.

Moved is the Oklahoma Stage, it now sits on the West end near where Bell's once stood.  Wonder how the neighbors like the noise from that arrangement?

Missing was a large number of folks with mega pass wrist bands.

New was the No Parking During Events signs in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Seen were lots of Law enforcement and wrecker services towing many vehicles that parked in the wrong spots.

Missing is the great championship auto and motorcycle racing that once was the showcase of the Fair.  Also missing is the mega multi-engine tractor pulls and Monster Truck shows from the Grandstand attractions.

Missing are the cool rides, sidewalks and seating that once was Bell's Amusement Park.  Forever to many people a staple of the Fair, Replaced by additional parking and a giant stage.

Overall it seems to of lost many of the attractions that once made the Tulsa County
Fair have great State Fair feel.

Since the county treated Bell's the way they did, I have boycotted every TSF since.  I REFUSE to help them profit from it.

I haven't gone since the Bells thing and may go back once Randi Miller is gone.

I am going to the fair every day.

My staff and some 60 volunteers are working to help the fair recycle.

I need to find some stick-em that quickly dissolves. My plan is to coat some dimes and win enough of the glass plates for a complete set.

Shouldn't be a problem finding something that works. The fair is, after all, the stickiest place on earth.

Sure is a pretty asphalt amusement park, isn't it? [xx(]

I didn't go last year for the exact reason stated.  I don't think they'd learned their lease was not being renewed till Nov. of '06 so I did go that year.

I'm conflicted.  On the one hand, I don't want to hand over any more money to them, but I'd like to see the midway improvements my tax dollars have paid for.

I agree, but for me, Bell's was ALWAYS a part of my TSF experience.  The Himalaya was always fun (especially if you had a date) and the Zingo always capped it off for me.  Funnel Cakes (mmmm).

Loved watching people trying to not lose their lunch on the Gravitron.  Of course, not realizing what might be in store if they actually did, I never thought about.

There have been lots of complaints, and the response from the county is that they will try to talk the promoter to turn the sound down.
That really sounds proactive, doesnt it?

I am going tomorrow, Saturday, to check out the wedding cake exhibit and maybe eat some crap food.
It's hard being a Diamond in a rhinestone world.

I understand nostalgia, but for generators?  Those things have been my least favorite part of any fair since I was old enough to have a memory.  Good riddance.

Shame about the tractor pulls, though.

Hoss

I'm going to the Tulsa Oiler open house at the BOK tomorrow.  No Fair for me!

OUGrad05

Went today.

This is two years in a row I've been disappointed...why are they letting Ford pay them to be the only automobile display at the fair?  The biggest reason I go is to check out all the cars.  There hasn't been **** there the last two years so I guess this was my last trip to the fair :(

Required GPS devices for anyone under 8 so sheriffs don't have to waste time looking for more than 2 dozen lost kids a day.

Metal detectors at the gates ( more on that if the media even covers it)[;)]
