Biden can at least pronounce the name of that country correctly!

ok i officially hate the moderator.  I think rule #1 is NEVER try to play off cute of a candidate's quip or cute comment.

SARAH PALIN = clear winner

we will see what the liberal elite media does to spin this one ... but they are going to have a hard time on this one

Huh??? Were you watching the same debate I watched? Yes, Palin exceeded expectations, but she was a nervous wreck, voice shaking, and saying nothing I hadn't already heard in previous talking points. I found Biden to be much more comfortable and knowledgeable, and I actually learned more about the Democratic ticket's positions. I would expect a performance like Palin's from a good high school debater. I would expect a performance like Biden's from a vice president.

Sarah Palin = simple well-coached answers from a Republican soundbite sockpuppet.

Palin won the battle of low expections but lost the war... Biden was typically passionate but luckily kept himself restrained.  Biden was articulate and answered questions in full detail with complete understanding.

But I gave the edge to McCain in the last debate, so what do I know....?

Palin did better than her latest interviews - yep.  It will be fun to review the text of their responses.  Biden used great restraint and was likable.  It will be positive movement for Biden.  Palin did her best to save face, but as the dust settles, I don't see her pulling out of her nose dive.
Vote for the two party system!
-one one Friday and one on Saturday.

Just like

Mod: Gov Palin, what's your take on the war in Iraq?

Gov Palin: Energy.

Great, coached answers.

If she was looking to stop the tide of bad press since the Couric interview, she did it.

Did she win the debate?  Hardly.  She just proved to me that she knows nothing about how government at the federal level should work.  Biden does.  Simple as that.

Who won the debate tonight depends entirely on what was expected of the two.  Palin exceeded expectations, mostly because those were so low.  She proved that she could form a coherent thought, and made some respectable responses--though they weren't in response to the questions asked.

Biden did as well as expected, but his expectations were pretty high.

If these were two equals, Biden clearly won.  He actually answered the questions, and provided good arguments.

But they weren't equals.  Given her handicaps, I would say it was a tie.

"She just proved to me that she knows nothing about how government at the federal level should work.  Biden does.  Simple as that."

Especially when the question of expanding the powers of the Vice-President's office came up. I thought Biden really scored points on that one.

Polls by CNN and CBS News both gave Biden a decisive win. CNN by a 15-point margin, and CBS by a 2-to-1 margin.

For what it's worth, CBS poll of undecideds said Biden won, 46% to 21% (33% said a tie).  Eighteen percent said they are now committed to voting for Obama/Biden, 10% said for McCain/Palin.  Most remained uncommitted.

CNN poll said Biden won as well.

All in all, not a monumental change in the race.  Which is a problem for McCain.

I think I heard Olbermann say the same thing almost word for word about 20 minutes ago...

87% of Fox News viewers thought Sarah Palin won the debate... cough, cough...
