Is anyone else getting pissed about how they are deleting comments left and right at whim?

Steve

I never have.  I subscribe to home delivery of the World for over 30 years.  In fact today I called their office and changed my home delivery from 7 days a week to the Thurs. through Sunday option when my annual subscription expires on 10-28.  I have never looked at the World web site.

I also have posted at TW.

I noticed some posts being deleted but was not sure if the "poster" had deleted or if TW had deleted.

If the TW is deleting posts, isn't that a violation of "free speech"?

Well, maybe they don't play well with others.

Porky

I quit posting at the TW and at KOTV for this reason.

I can understand any forum removing vulgar and etc remarks but both of these forums are removing opinions and that is just wrong.

I have posted a couple of times on TulsaWorld.
I am a man of few words, but I use them often.

I don't think it is terrible that they delete some posts. It is their property and they have every right to allow or delete comments.

What comments did you post that are gone?
Power is nothing till you use it.

I have posted on there and never had any of mine deleted. There are some sick, evil, people out there and its always tempting to want to "delete" their comments, but one has to consider that it may be better to know they are there and what they are saying, than to not. However there are some people who abuse the point of the ability to post, and post things that have no relevance to the topic, disrupt the ability of others to carry on even the facade of discussion lol. The other day I saw someone post, post after post, paragraphs and paragraphs of something that didnt have anything to do with the topic at hand. Thats not even remotely what the posting is for. Or people who go on a tirade then post exactly the same thing, in story after story throughout the site. You cant let that stuff get out of hand or it will destroy the ability of others to use it as it was interned at all.

Those who think it is a luxury have only a fragment of a mind. Mans spirit grows hungry for art in the same way h

I liked it better when it was a free-for-all.  Maybe they should have an edited version and then an unedited version of the online product.  The unedited portion could be more big-person, while the edited version could have a genteel editor chatting live with people, answering questions, directing people to resources or stories, and editing flame-out posts.  They should also provide stats in the paper about the website activity (most viewed, commented, emailed, etc.)

I call BS on inteller.  Anything done at the T.World is no different than some of the creepiness that some of you hacks and friends-of-hacks have done or would do if given the motive and opportunity.

Where do you get your information?

How infantile.

I hate the comments section period.  Free for all or registered comments only - either way, too many morons on both sides posting inflammatory non-facts, poorly spelled racist rants, etc.  I go there to read the news and wind up with a headache after reading the comment section.  Gotta stop doing that to myself - but it's just too tempting.

If someone wants to give an opinion, write a letter to the editor or post it here, not where some of us try to get our news.
