I am out of town (in Tampa) and he is appearing here tomorrow with Hillary Clinton.

I just RSVP'ed to attend.

I know there will be lots of people there, but you can spot me from a distance.

Man, I wish our state was in play.

Isn't this where someone jumps in and says "Stay and make a difference".

Have fun, RM.  We were in Missouri over the weekend--it really is so much fun to be in a state that makes a difference.  I was just disappointed we couldn't make it to St. Louis & the arch.  I haven't spent much time in Tampa, but Forida in general is a quirky place, but fun.  Bring back pictures.

Thanks wrinkle.

Just for that, you won't be getting a souvenir Obama button. I probably won't get you a t-shirt or even a postcard now.

It was great.

The whole event was only announced 24 hours before, no doubt hoping the Devil Rays would win last night and be going to the World Series. It is always good to be in town when the people are feeling good.

I got home from the ball game and trophy celebration about 1am and left my hotel room at 10am this morning to go to the Obama rally. It was being held at the ballpark built for the Yankees spring training games. Steinbrenner Stadium holds 11,000 fans and I bet there were at least 10,000 there this morning.

The purpose of the rally was to kick off early voting in Florida. Most of the warm-up speakers spoke about it urging people to vote today just in case there were problems. One speaker, with a title of Obama campaign Vote Protection Director said it best. "This is Florida, anything can happen." The elderly couple in front of me agreed and told me that their entire nursing center votes were not counted in 2000.

My favorite moment was when a school principal brought her entire school and then sang the National Anthem. It was a slow, beautiful version. I have never heard as many voices chime in. I have been to more sporting events than anyone you know and I have never been so moved by the National Anthem. A preacher from the Tampa area gave a short prayer that inspired the crowd to thank God for "service, truth and peace".

Senator Bill Nelson gave a tremendous speech that the crowd loved and then members of the Rays baseball team came on stage to thundering applause to introduce Obama.

Obama was good. He hammered the same themes I have been hearing lately, discussing a temporary ban on home foreclosures, talked about tax cuts for people making under a quarter million a year, and used a line I had not remember hearing before, "a plan to rescue the middle class".

It was all enjoyed by the crowd.

I bought some t-shirts and a ballcap, plus some buttons and some playing cards with Obama's picture on them from a street vendor set up across the street. I should have bought more since the prices were so cheap (t-shirts for $12) but I didn't carry that much cash on me.

Everyone had to fill out a piece of paper with information in order to be able to attend. I used a new e-mail address just to see what they would send me. Within two hours after the speech was over, the campaign had sent me an e-mail asking for a donation.

I guess the part that impressed me was the amount of Obama campaign people involved. There were hundreds of Obama people with clipboards or passing out instructions about early voting for that county.

Can't wait for Hal Lindsey to write yet another version of Late Great Planet Earth... cuz he's been right so many other times in the last three decades... [}:)]

What is it about the evangelical right's republicans that compels them to refer to Obama as the "anti-Christ" or "Savior" or "Messiah"???

Must be a bummer, huh?  Knowing that McCain could have done this right and had a snowball's chance in hell.

Mark the date people:  his campaign went in the crapper on 08/29/08.

I am still at a loss as to how he could select, or allow his campaign to force him into selecting, Gov. Palin.  His best choice would have been Tim Pawlenty, but I guess hindsight is 20/20.

It may go down as one of the greatest political blunders in campaign history.

Of course, this is just one 'libtard's' opinion.
