Given IP's obsession--as well as the rest of the radical right's--with what some crazy fringe leftist groups think about Obama, I wonder if he is every bit as concerned about Al-Qaeda's love of McCain?

quote:
"Al-Qaeda will have to support McCain in the coming election," said a commentary posted Monday on the extremist Web site al-Hesbah, which is closely linked to the terrorist group. It said the Arizona Republican would continue the "failing march of his predecessor," President Bush.

On another thread, IP asks:  "why do terrorist organizations like Hamas prefer Obama?

Not one person has attempted to answer this question. Plenty of answers to questions not asked though."

So, IP--why does Al-Qaeda prefer McCain?

You live by the terrorism talk, you die by the terrorism talk.

to play devils advocate here (since no one else has bothered)...

First, I will assume the claims are correct.  I point not yielded.  But for the purposes of discussion.

Islamic radicals are not stupid (not in all regards, anyway).  They know they are a poison pill.  If they really wanted John McCain elected the best thing they could do is shut their mouths about it. Hence, by "endorsing" John McCain they are helping to scuttle his campaign.

The alternative is to assume the terrorists are so stupid they think a positive endorsement by them will help get their candidate elected.  I doubt they feel their popularity in the United States will draw that conclusion.  Thus, they endorse the candidate they want to lose and the terrorists want Obama in the White House.

McCain - strong military spending, war vet, stated support of killing terrorists

Obama - less military spending, no military record, stated support for talking to terrorists

CF, I actually don't disagree with you at all. I am sure if terrorist organizations knew they could manipulate the election by endorsements, they would.

However, McCain's campaign made a big deal about Hamas "endorsing" Obama.  Wouldn't your same logic apply for Hamas?  Personally, I don't think anyone in the US should consider at all what some fanatical terrorist group says.

And that goes for other groups/individuals as well.  IP made a big deal about Farrakhan supporting Obama.  Well, the KKK supports McCain--should we take that to imply McCain is a white supremacist?

Honestly I don't take the "opinion" of who Islamic extremist terrorists want for our President seriously, this kind of information can be planted to the press by ANYONE (and yes I mean other governments or our own CIA), so I couldn't give a rats butt on a topic like this.

But someone wants to mention that McCain would be better against them, so I have to say this.

Maybe the "Terrorists" (My God, are we living in a GI Joe Cartoon fantasy world now? Anyway, I digress...) would prefer McCain because if he is anything like Bush, he will help them recruit more young men to their side.

Invading muslim countries (causing high civilian causilities), accidental bomb strikes on civilians from un-manned drones (even in countries we haven't invaded yet), and basically trying to police the whole d@mn world makes for great propaganda for Islamic extremist groups to build on.

McCain=More terrorist recruits for the next 4 years. Yep. I'd say that is accurate.

FYI, the reason given by the Al-Qaeda, according to the website, for preferring McCain is economic policy.  They believe that the economic policies of the Bush administration, coupled by good old American greed, is causing the downfall of our great country from the inside out.  They believe that McCain would likely follow Bush's policies, and that our economy would continue to fall into decline.
