"TALLAHASSEE, FL—In a campaign gaffe that could potentially jeopardize Sen. Barack Obama's White House bid, the Democratic presidential nominee told nearly 8,000 supporters Tuesday that, if elected, he would be a terrible president... "

"....According to sources, before those on hand could fully process what Obama had said, the Illinois senator continued to stumble, claiming that, were he to win the general election, he'd have absolutely no idea what to do.

"My youth and inexperience would definitely make me an awful president," said Obama, whose seven-minute misstep was further exacerbated when he called himself "no expert" on the economy. "To be perfectly honest, I'd be worried about putting me in charge of the most powerful military in the world because I'm not any good when it comes to making important decisions. Also, I'm not sure how much I care about keeping this great nation of ours safe."

That may kind of rhyme but consider the source.

You think McCain is not suffering for his self admitted 90% support of Bush during the last 8 years?

Why is that any worse than Obama siding with fellow Democrats 97% of the time?  Last I checked, they've had majorities in both houses the last two years.  How's that worked out for us?

What Conan said. Neither candidate is looking "across the aisle" Waterboy.

I'm just pointing out the facts.

Is there anyone here who honestly thinks McCain is losing this campaign for any other reasons than the following?
A-Closely associated with failed, unpopular Bush administration
B-Suspect judgement in Palin selection
C-Suspect behavior during economic collapse

If so, you obviously are deluding yourselves. He thought so too or he wouldn't have spent so much time painting himself as a maverick who often disagreed with the administration. The reality is that being associated 97% with Democrats in a transitional congress is not causing Obama any grief.

Nobody is winning or losing until Tuesday night.  Opinion polls are tightening.

Why hasn't someone of Obama's youth, vision, and exhuberance not put this election away with a 10 to 15% margin in the opinion polls already?

A- Doesn't have a substantive track record and there seems to be quite a few voters out there with some doubts and concern about him and his policies

B- Suspect judgement in picking one of the oldest Senate dinosaurs whilst campaigning under the theme of "change"

C- Exhibited same suspect behavior as McCain  during economic collapse.  Voted with Bush and & McCain on Wall St. bail-out package.

At least McCain was showing some substantive  leadership in trying to quell fears about the economy when other primary economic indicators still were favorable.  (i.e. "the fundamentals of our economy are still strong")

Instead, his opponent was gloming onto total doom and gloom rhetoric which is guaranteed to cause loss of jobs and loss of sales by creating fear through all sectors of the economy.  If you talk recession long enough, there will be one.  Talking up a recession to satisfy political ambition is reprehensible.

I'm just about at a point I'm ready to throw my hands up in disgust and say: "Fine let Obama win, let the Dems have a super-majority in Congress."  Just don't ***** about it being all Bush's fault or the minority Republican's fault when our country looks like Eastern Europe in 4 years and our economy is crippled.

Wow. That's some seriously small hole you've stuck your head into. I'm talking about McCain, not Obama. Every time I make some observation about his campaign or his personal foibles all you guys do is question Obama & co. Tit for tat is dying out. It wouldn't matter if it was Paul Tay he was running against, McCain mishandled this election. The three items I listed explain why Obama has this race to lose. Partly bad luck, partly history catching up with him, partly bad timing at being part of an older generation.

Gallup moving from 12 to 10 is not tightening up, its noise. All major creditable polls show no unexpected tightening and high single digits to double digit leads. More importantly, 370 is a possibility. I hope the Republicans and conservatives keep your attitude guys. It guarantees 8 years and a solid chance at catching up with the rest of the world. (Except for Oklahoma of course).

And nice try to blame any future failures on a candidate and a party that hasn't even won yet. Now that's just sour grapes and it stinks. Your support for the American system is admirable (sarcasm). I thought Reagan and the Bushes were the wrong choices at the time but I at least gave them credit for having put together plans, developed good campaign strategy and cultivating a strong group of motivated supporters. I gave them the benefit of the doubt but they were all catastrophic economically for the country. Their base did well though and were ecstatic. So they got to write the history. Good for them. Those of us who were adults at the time know better.

Conservatism and Republicans have got to find a better way to promote themselves than to contrast themselves to a figment they contrived and labelled, "the most liberal senator" in the country. People saw him, listened to him and realized it was just one more lie coming from the right. Party on Fox boys and girls!

Oh really?  Eastern Europe?  Is that all you got, Conan?.... how 'bout this....

The Obama Menace !

"You heard it here, real Americans.... under the Barack Obama Communist Orgy of Bad... Total dictatorship where private property becomes a FELONY!... everyone is forced to share MUSTARD SANDWICHES... AND A GANG OF HIPPIES GIVES YOUR SISTER A SOCIAL DISEASE!!!"   [}:)]

So you had no problems with republicans freezing the minimum wage for 8-10 years?..... or running up federal deficits exponentially higher than when a dem is in the oval office?

Keep playin' the fear card, Conan... it shows your true colors... and then in 4 years, when  most of the moderate republicans who voted for McCain find out that Obama isn't really the anti-christ or some guy who "pals around with terrorists" or "a socialist"....... you've just set the table for Obama's re-election in 2012.... keep up the good work.

Just desserts for a president and party along with its wingnut koolaid drinking supporters who completely and utterly exploited the terrorist attacks on 9/11 for partisan political gain.

According to Gallup and the ABC polls, he already is.

Not really.

But I'll answer conan for you.

If Obama was white, this guy would whip McCain's donkey.  Landslide whip I tell you.  I hate to be the one to say it, but it's true.  Even if he did have the same name.  The fact that he is black will hamper him horribly south of the Mason/Dixon line.

Ignore it all you want, this country is still racist in the general term.
