Has anyone who has had to do business with the downtown Tulsa main Post Office had any problems with a window clerk that has been hostile, threatening or just otherise unnecessarily rude?

Maybe it's my luck, but somehow I manage to get the most vile woman with a chip on her shoulder who seems to take pleasure in making the simplest task a nightmare.

No hostile or rude clerks but I am very displeased with the speed of service there.

The clerks are just incredibly slow and they sometimes stop and chat with customers or look at somebody's vacation pictures while you're waiting in line.

They even removed the automatic postal machine, which every other post office in America seems to have. They claimed they removed that machine because of the clientele that frequents that branch (assuming they mean bums).

But they could still keep it in the area where the clerks are, the part that's locked after business hours. At least then the lack of service wouldn't be so much of an issue.

I haven't been to the DT post office in decades.  I always go to the Donaldson station, just west of 15th/Lewis which is the station for my home zip code.  No complaints from me there, as they always seem to be very friendly.  Lines can move slowly, but who isn't in a hurry when they go the post office.

If I encountered a surly, threatening, rude clerk, I certainly would complain to the postmaster in charge.  Bad service will not improve if no one complains.

If you like slow, surly service, you should try the one on Independence between Yale and Sheridan.

The westside post office sucks too. USPS must be an awful place to work based on the attitude of its employees.

Never had a problem there, and that's my local station.

But, I usually do business with the one closest to my place of employment, which is at 29th and 129th East Ave.  They're always very courteous there and have lots of automated machines.

Every time I've gone in, I've gotten the most vile woman, too. I avoid that PO completely now.

Ive filed one by Email.
Ever tried to find the 'Complaints' area on the USPS website?  You can easily find the 'Compliments' and a form to ask a question, but there are no easily discoverable instructions on how to report a postal worker problem.
You have to go to the Inspector General before you even get an Email address or a proper phone number.

Of course, you could ask the miscreant for a "Customer Service Card" and hand the completed postcard back to her...    not.

There are two ladies that work there that are not real friendly and never in a hurry, but there is a really officious guy that works there that acts like he owns the USPS. And I've been over there many times when the line is virtually out the door, and only one is working the counter. This is the closest one to my office, and unfortunately, I have to use it often.

Utica Square is the best post office!  The clerks are friendly and helpful.  And best of all it is near fabulous places to eat lunch.

If I could get my PO box moved there and still keep the existing number, I would.

Yup.  The Downtown Post Office has the worst service in town...and it's been that way for years!  It must be where they send the burnt out employees to work.  Apathy reigns supreme!

I got a reply from the USPS saying essentially that I cant file a complaint by email and that I might have better luck with the "Consumer Affairs Office".  A search for that on their website yields no contact information.  Searching for "Consumer Advocate Office" is just as fruitless.

Not surprisingly, the USPS 800-number voice-recognition computer doesnt recognize either of those departments, instead asking me  instead to select "where to buy stamps" and other helpful information.

Well, the PO is a monopoly... .

Suck it up and bear it.  I use the downtown PO all the time and have for 8 years.  In the overall scheme of things I guess I am used to Tulsa.  Quirky post office employees, hell bent drivers, green trees, inefficiently timed traffic lights, beautiful arena... gotta love it [:)]

Oh, give the 51st & Sheridan PO a try.  They've got an evil little man who has worked there for years.  He asks you 20 questions about what you're mailing, because of 9/11, but does it in such a rude manner.  And he uses his pencil instead of his fingers and speaks in a condescending tone.  I do not understand how he keeps his job.  I just let the next person (victim) go ahead of me so that I don't have to deal with him anymore.
