Senator James Inhofe has revealed that Henry Paulson was behind the threats of martial law and a new great depression prior to the passage of the bailout bill, having made such warnings during a conference call on September 19th, around two weeks before the legislation was eventually approved by both the Senate and Congress.

I know they told senators some pretty BS stuff.  I mean when you can convince Colburn to vot eyou have to have brought out some pretty scary boogeymen.

I was shocked, and very pissed off, at Coburn for voting for that.

Wow it is really amazing to me that even though martial law was used as a threat doesn't seem to really ruffle anyone's feathers on this forum.  Especially when there are Us Troops on US soil for the sole purpose of controlling any "social unrest".  Wow, keep the blinders on folks, the trains will take you to a happy place.

If they thought it was so evil and outlandish a suggestion at the time... Why didnt they immediately call him out on it? (Isnt this the same gov that gave us metal tubes and cried nuclear weapons, drawings of trucks and cried chemical weapons, Axis of Evil, etc.? Seems we are unfortunately used to this kind of "end of the world" ploy anymore.) I can certainly understand Inhofes frustration if the money was said to be used only for one thing, then it wasnt and was used for another. But, I also keep hearing on the news that the money was authorized in a way so that it could be used with a certain flexibly, for a reason. Basically it looks like a rushed and muddled mess all the way around, with plenty of blame to go around. I still dont think anyone knows or agrees exactly with what to do. So depending on your economic/political bent, your going to see things very differently, and possibly just as messed up.
