Please recycle the old ones.

We have set up dumpsters for the phone books at all the area recycling centers plus a couple of extra ones downtown. I have one next to my warehouse at 1st and Detroit and another one on 7th street and Cincinnati.

The dumpsters will remain through Christmas. If you procrastinate, my recycling center at 34th and Sheridan will accept them year-round.

Tulsa was the first city in the country to have a recycle effort for phonebooks. This is the twentieth year for us to collect them. This drive was the impetus for getting our recycling programs started.

Will do Michael.  About a month ago, someone left a brand new AT&T phone book at my front door in the plastic bag dated Dec. 2007!  It was an exact duplicate of the phone book I have had for 11 months!  Yesterday, the guys were walking my block leaving the new Dec. 2008 phone books and I asked him why someone left me a duplicate old directory so recently.  Of course, he didn't know.  I have a stack of about 5 old outdated/unneeded books and will recycle per your suggestion.

these have amazing stopping power actually.  I would suggest donating them to your local ghetto to line their walls with.

The admission that you have fired your guns at a Tulsa phone book says volumes about your views toward our town.

I am glad you have found an outlet for your anger.

I kind of blindly send stuff off at work to be recycled so my understanding is fairly novice; do you actually get to watch this stuff being recycled?  Because watching a bunch of phone books being turned into a pulp mulch or whatever sounds kind of fun.  I think more people would recycle if there was a public event that displayed that kind of thing.  If there are no windows on non-hazardous recycling machines, I would highly suggest it.  Kind of like the Christmas tree bonfire that everyone used to watch because it was fascinating, it could be like a planet friendly version of that.

You know, I cannot understand why we have so many damn phone books in this city?!

I hardly ever use one and I had just made a trip to a recycle bin with 7 of the darn things and darned if the NEXT day I got another one on my door step.

I can remember when there was 1 phone book in Tulsa and it worked quite well, but I am sure some other company seen an opportunity for competition and here we are killing trees!!!

RecycleMichael this will keep you busy for a while!!

The people who distribute the books know nothing about the book, they are just contract workers.

Anyone can get a job throwing phone books.
