So the drunk who killed two people in a fit of rage on Brookside gets out on bond for $525K (KOTV) over the objections of the grieving families, but the drunk who killed two people 'accidentally' gets $1M bond (KOTV))? Am I reading this right? Who do these judges answer to?

voters.  That's why I always vote 'no' across the board every time i go to the polls.  No judge should be in power for any extended period of time.

I too, was shocked to see the different bail amounts set.

One seems intentional and the other accidental. Both were horrible, but the punishments seem backwards.
Power is nothing till you use it.

As it said in the article, Judge Otey did not want to "punish" the man with bail. I believe he didn't post bail anyway and even if he did, would've been under house arrest.

It looks bad, but I don't think it necessarily IS bad.

Hadn't the drunk who "accidently" killed the 2 people by hitting their car on the side of the road already had a couple of previous DUI's?

No bail would have been better...

Yes, you're reading it wrong.

Last I heard, he's still in jail and was never freed, ever. I think the outrage is fairly silly when he's still incarcerated. It's putting the cart before the horse.

If he were out on bond, then get mad. But he still has to cough up a hell of a lot of cash to be released. And I've seen no indications that he will.

Is the bond for the lady still at a million? I thought it was lowered today. Very sad stories.

Last I heard. Funny, one judge gives a lady that has one or two counts of manslaughter and gets a million dollar bail. This guy has two counts of murder and gets a half million dollar bail.

I don't think it would be safe for that guy to make bail and get out.

I'm sure more than a few people would like to "talk" to him if he were ever to set foot outside a jail cell again.

I do agree, however, with the notion of voting these judges out periodically.
