It's for the best.  Thrifty friends can be annoying. At least MY thrifty friends can be annoying.

I know a guy who I call "dollar menu Dave". He compares all meals as to what he could get it for at a fast food place.

That is SO unproductive.

I'll go back.  My thrifty friends with me will probably not go back.

Sometimes they have a good point.  One of these guys in particular has pretty good taste -- he'll fork out the dough for Stonehorse.  Other times it gets old.

I usually don't give up on a place without eating there a couple of times unless it is really bad.  White Owl warrants another go.

I think the main thing is they need to decide if they are a sports bar or a bar/fine dining restaurant.  Based off the decor and some prices, I could understand the latter.  They seem to want to be the former; if so, they may want to adjust prices and the menu for that type of crowd accordingly.

Been once, they were slammed with one waitress. Food was good, will be back. Agree though, they need decide to be restaurant or sports bar.

It's obviously a bar with the food being secondary.....

went in today and enjoyed the room. nice woodwork and the layout is well done. noise levels, as mentioned here before were loud, our table had to really speak up by the end of our afternoon visit.

ill surely go back and experiment/sample with the menu a bit more. i had the sliders and fries, both tasty and well seasoned.

I went there for lunch last week and enjoyed it very much.  The food and service was just fine.  Prices for lunch were not cheap, but reasonable.

Anyone know what sport packages they have?

I know he has hd cox cable boxes and a dish with nfl ticket.  phonograph did all of his wiring.  the closet with all of the receivers is insane.  they spent some serious cash remodeling that place and it looks great.

Went after church a few Sundays ago... good paninis and potato chips made in-house. A nice change from Camille's or Panera for a quick weekend lunch.

That said, I think it is just SILLY that a separate alley entrance is required for anyone under 21. Like it would scar a child to walk through a bar - where people are drinking alcohol, egad!!! - to get to a table?!?

When I first moved to Phoenix I found a  good sports bar  and was suprised that if a bar serves food there is no age restriction imposed by the state. If it is just a bar, then it's 21 and over, or if the owner chooses to make it 21 and over. No special entrances for those under 21.

Ate at White Owl last night. It was my fourth trip and this time I tried the Cuban sandwich with some Marshall's beer and my favorite bourbon "Bookers" for desert.

The food was ok, but am I crazy or does the food seem to get more bland every time I go to White Owl? I mean it's not bad, just maybe not that great now that appeal of it is wearing off.

I finally made my way to this place last night to watch the Holiday Bowl. I really like the setup. Good food. Cold beer. Pretty decent service. Nice bathrooms. It is a fun place to watch sports. I'll be back! I'll also agree that it's a bit overpriced....but the bartender gave me a free shot of Tuaca, so that evened it out for me. :)

White Owl is just another bar.  All the TV's are the norm.  The drinks are $.50-$1.00 more then other places on Cherry Street.  The food is bland & over priced.  The service is terrible for more then one reason.  I understand that they just opened up but you never know if your going to get service or not.  I understand that waitress/bartenders are there to make money but pushing shots on people that are OBVIOUSLY already drunk is so tacky.  Also, if your going in there with your mate certain staff members have no respect by their behavior for the significant other that your with.  We all know how to behave and flirt properly but being blantly disrespect is very tacky.  Not only does your staff make a bar pleasent but they represent the bar.  By people wanting to come back regular will help a bar stay in business.  I want to go somewhere to have good food, good drinks, good/proper service & good prices.  Sorry but White Owl has none of these and I have no intentions of returning.

I have not been there, but I was looking at their ad in this week's Urban Tulsa and is said that their happy hour had $2 longnecks and $2 appetizers.

I am thinking that isn't over-priced.

What did they charge you for your appletini?
