I hear either Richard closed the downtown restaurant or the Health Department did.  Does anyone know the details?

CRZ

I have not heard an official word. But I did get a text message from a friend last night saying that it would be tsunami's last night and they were giving away free drinks and food all night.

I'm just curious, what were the prices like for rolls, Spicy Tuna, New York, Philly?

Very high.  They had some good rolls, and I liked the food.  Their venture at the Riverwalk was a disaster from day one, but the downtown location offered some good food if you wanted to shell out that much cash.

Personally I'm a Sushi Train kinda guy.  I don't need to pay 6 times as much to help pay for the employee's tattoos and piercings.

I was just curious, there is a place about 2 miles from where we live here in Phx, and I think their most expensive roll is $7.95. My wife and I can go there and share 3 to 4 rolls and with tip be oout the door for just under $30.00. Nothing fancy, family run, always good and always busy. I think thie max capacity is 40 people.

Fairly reasonable, actually, though it depended on how ornate you wanted to get.

I had several perfectly adequate meals there; it's more of a blow to the downtown scene than to Tulsa sushi cuisine as a whole. Much like a Starbucks, a Walgreens/CVS, or a faux Irish pub, a sushi restaurant is one of those yupster prerequisites to a thriving, livable downtown area.

a place like Asahi would do much better downtown.  People just want lots of cheap Sushi for lunch.  Tsunami was too much of an "experience"

It never seemed that pricey the few times we went, but then again that was all before they opened the second location and ended up being closed at odd times, so I guess they raised there prices.
Thank you,

Seemed pretty cheap to me.  If you're trying to find sushi on a Taco Bell budget, you're taking your life into your own hands.

I've eaten at Tsunami every night during DFest, and it will be sad not having that tradition anymore. [V]

I never thought it was that expensive compared to In The Raw, but the last few times I ate there, they would be out of: Sapporo, avocados, tuna, shrimp, you name it.  No matter what I ordered, some component would be missing or they simply wouldn't have it...  I guess the signs were there.  It's a great space, hopefully something similar takes it's place.

Oh, and did I mention SLOWWWWWWW?  I know sushi takes time, but I never got out of there in less than 1.5 hours.

um, compared to Tsunami, I'd take my chances with Asahi.
