Mother of Palin daughter's boyfriend arrested

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Alaska state troopers have arrested the mother of Bristol Palin's boyfriend on drug charges.

Sherry L. Johnston was arrested Thursday after troopers served a search warrant on a Wasilla home. The 42-year-old Johnston has been charged with six felony drug counts.

Troopers did not identify the drug involved in a brief mention on the agency's Web site.

Johnston is the mother of 18-year-old Levi Johnston. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOP nominee for vice president, announced in September that her 18-year-old daughter, Bristol, was pregnant and Johnston was the father.

Sherry Johnston was released from jail in Palmer on $5,000 bail.

What does this have to do with Huckabee?

Because if Palin's daughters boyfriends mom was arrested, then she can't run.  I guess.

Aren't GW's relatives always in trouble, and he himself was previously.  Same with Bill.  And Obama has close ties with at least two high profile felons we know of.

Seems like a non-issue to me.

When are people gonna leave this woman alone? All the hateful hysteria has probably lead to her church being burnt down and still . . .

Hateful?  Considering some of the crap she spewed during the campaign, it smacks a little of karma...

My point was these stories will continue for as long as the RNC is rumored to be thinking of her as a candidate.

No matter how far removed it will come up.  In the back of people's minds there will be a "someone in her family was arrested for drugs".

Huckabee was leading the Fox polls to run in 2012, Palin was 2nd.  I believe it was Fox.  That was the reason to place Huckabee on the title.

If it had been Huckabee vs. Obama, I might have considered voting for Obama.

I want the overtly religious figures out of the Republican party.  OK to be religious but don't shove your religion, any religion, in my face.

Huckabee is one of the least offensive of the holy rollers, IMO. In general, he's not about forcing his religion on people.

While he's open about his religion, he's not nearly as annoying about it as Palin, to take one recent example. Perhaps that comes from being a preacher.

I was reading the comments sections in a bunch of newspapers on this story. I was amazed that everyone assumed that the drug involved was meth. They just assumed that everybody was white trash.

My favorite line was that they were going to name the baby "Crystal".

The drug was oxycontin. The same one abused by Rush Limbaugh.
Power is nothing till you use it.

I still didn't care for him during the primary elections.  I don't think he would have done even as well as McCain outside of the Bible belt.

I agree with that assessment, but since the (D) win was essentially a foregone conclusion, a decent showing by Huckabee would have been a more strategically sound decision.

His biggest problem in the wingnut arm of the Republican party is that he's not enough of a wingnut. He's willing to do evil things like raise taxes when there's a concrete benefit involved.

The only place he's not essentially a centrist like Obama is abortion. (That's how he managed to get re-elected in Arkansas until term limits kicked in) If Obama gets a Supreme Court appointment or two, I'd seriously consider voting for Huckabee in '16, since my only real quarrel with him is on that subject.

I don't know why any of you guys think a far right religious type is going to represent the Republicans in 2012.

Huckabee proved in 08 that it can't happen. He got his butt kicked after the Iowa primary.

Palin was a complete moron!! She couldn't win the primary by any stretch either, without any more bad press.

I'm sorry, but outside of the Bible Belt, these two players have no more chance to win the nomination than Pat Robertson did 20 years ago.
