Oh, they're still giving away unsecured debt like candy to anyone with a decent FICO and a bit of income like my SO. Two applications later, she finds herself with yet another $10000 in credit lines.

They're not feeling nearly as stingy as they were in Octoberish.

That and most folks who aren't overextended haven't seen a whole lot of adverse action on their credit lines from most banks.

well, I think what we will see is just a confirmation of the boom bust mindset in this town.  I'm guessing the majority of those people standing in line are way overextended and we'll see the fallout in this town as the rest of the country starts to recover.  we always lag recoveries because people around here seem to think bad times can't happen here and continue to spend spend spend.

I don't see how people do that.  They're so overextended that if they lost their job they couldn't last for very long.

I would freak if I got laid off & I have minimal debt except for mortgage & vehicle.
...speaking of, I'm at work...gotta go!!

So an annoyance of my own: People who require checks.

I just spent 20 minutes searching for my checkbook so I can pay someone who needs a check. It would have been a whole lot easier to go to the bank and withdraw some cash.

I write about one check a year..the one for my car tags. This year I'll be using up two checks. How ridiculous.

My annoyance...
Companies that ask for a fax # & don't have the ability to email documents like insurance companies, etc...

This program works like a printer & allows you to save almost anything in .pdf format so that it can be emailed.

the problem is signatures.  To my knowledge, faxes are acceptable as legal copies but emails are not.  Probably won't get that way until pen computing or some other vetted form of digital signature becomes prevalent.

Agreed.  I can understand having to fax a signed copy back to someone...it's the inability for them to get the doc to you without having to be faxed.

oh well, they figure since it has to be faxed back, no harm in faxing it to you.  you are expecting these people to think out of the box, which was your first mistake.

I've obtained many a credit card without signing a thing. Same with my last insurance company. You click the button, and you just signed.

My mortgage application was sent to me as a PDF, although I did have to fax it back after signing it. Until closing, everything was just sent around as PDFs.

Come to think of it, my new insurance company also sent PDFs rather than paper copies of things, although I did have to go to their office to sign some paperwork.

well that's great, sounds like MichaelWayne needs to give you a big pat on the back and an 'atta boy' and then switch to the same credit card, insurance, and mortgage company!

Nearly every credit card company will accept applications online these days. Perhaps there are some credit unions and small banks that won't, but basically everybody else will.
