My wife and I are pretty new to the area, but we both are in need of a dentist. We haven't been in a few years now, since we've moved around a bit.

Last dentist my wife went to here was awful - she hated him. We had a dentist in KC that was awesome. The X-rays he took didn't involve shoving that huge piece of cardboard in your mouth. He had all the latest technology. He pulled one of my wisdom teeth, and I literally felt nothing at all. And he did it in about a minute. Amazing guy.

Anyone here that good?

They would need to be good with kids, have all the latest technology, must be able to do x-rays without sticking that crap in your mouth, and generally just be a great dentist.

Who doesn't do bitewings? They all seem to have the full face scanner (which I find far more uncomfortable), but I've never had a dentist use it other than on the initial visit.

Tulsa Cosmetic Dental Center, if you can pay for it, has everything you can imagine in imaging as well as crowns made while you wait.

The things you learn. I think I'll stick with my dentist, though. He's inexpensive and I like him. (but he's useless to the OP who apparently can't deal with bitewings)

My dentist, Dr. Segnar, does bitewing x-rays, but they're not at all uncomfortable. And it's all digital -- x-rays appear on the monitor instantly.

He is a great dentist and affordable.

Dr. Doug Hill, 91st and Toledo.

Been going to him for nearly 30 years.  Best dentist around and you'll never find anyone more friendly.  Has a great staff, too!  Have referred many friends and they all love him.  You can't go wrong.

Dr. Robert Nail in Sand Springs is very good. Been going to him for over 20 years.

here is a guy near 71st and yale...

interesting guy... went to school at university of missouri- kc, did an extra year of dental general practice residency in a hospital... so he does more than your average dentist (titanium implants, etc.) and has broader medical background... but there is no hard sell for anything, just options...

he looks young but hes been in practice for like ten years... he takes care of a bunch of the docs and administrators at st. francis... one of my cousins told me about him and now nearly everyone we know goes there...

almost forgot, he had gone to ou for undergrad but was smart enough to get into dental school as a junior in college...

This is a tuff one. I thought I had a good dentist, It was in a big dental center and they had many dentists working there and lots of cute nurses. They did good work, then I found out that  they were doing work that I did not need done. They said I need two root canels, I put it off since I had no trouble or pain with the teeth. I was out of town when I chiped a tooth so I went to a local dentist there and he took X-Rays and and I asked about the teeth that needed root canels and the dentist there said they are all fine he even showed me the X-Rays. I should of thought something was up at my old dentist they never wanted to finish me up, they always found more work to do, they replaced fillings that they said were "leaking" and if I didn't get it done I'd lose that tooth to decay, they charged $250.00  for a deep root cleaning that they said I needed, that was back in 2005. I have since found another dentist and found out my teeth are all OK I did need a crown on one tooth but not a root canel, the other tooth was fine just needed a filling. IMO the dental industry has some rip-off places. I think Dental insurance encourages dentists to do as much work as they can to max out your coverage. My old dentist did do good work, but they did work that I didn't need done and I went to that office for over 10 years, who knows how much un-needed work they got me for. Live & learn I guess- When you find a good dentist stick with them. [B)]

I can give the names of 3 who do good work, but they all seem to charge alot for simple work. The last on is about the cheapest. Good Dental work will cost a pretty penny. Carrie Sessom in Bixby, Briarwood Dental at 5416 S. Yale and Harvard Dental center at 1227 S. Harvard. The people I know who went to all 3 gave glowing reports and have good teeth. The first one has very moddern equipment and everything is up to date.[:)]
