Kitchen designer recommendations?

We are getting ready to remodel our kitchen and although we have done designs and everything ourselves in previous homes, we really need some professional insight for this one.  If anyone can make a recommendation from a good (or not) experience, it would be greatly appreciated.

We really need someone creative who can maximize the utility of our space for storage.  A plus if they specialize in midtown/older homes.  Although it would be nice, not looking for high-end, top of the line everything.

Thanks in advance!

Hiring a professional is a good idea. I don't have a suggestion on whom to hire however.

My wife has now remodeled two kitchens in five years. She tries to do it all herself and it takes forever. We always have a tile saw or a power drill on the cabinets and dust is everywhere.

I hate channel 31. HGTV is ruining my life.

Let me know who you end up with.
Power is nothing till you use it.

Call Russ Pippin at Woodstone, 15th & Peoria. Beautiful work!

I don't know anyone to suggest as far as performing the work, but in the design aspect I suggest two things:

#1 - a giant kitchen is a waste of space.

#2 - don't design a kitchen that seems to enslave the cooker... make it accessibile to other parts of the house to converse, see the TV, or whatever.

One of the decorators I work with a lot is Cherri Sitton of Double Eagle Designs. 728-3333 is the listed number. They do some wonderful work but most of what I have seen is "classic" and old world. If you are wanting contemporary I could suggest a different decorator. They have a nice office near 91st and Yale facing south on 91st just west of Yale. The addresses online that I saw are for the old office. They recently moved about half a block west from that.

We remodeled our kitchen about a year ago.  Looked at every option & ended up going to Sullivan's Cabinets.

Talk to Jack, he'll take care of you and help you with the design process(or put you in contact with someone who can).

The thing I liked about most was that they build everything here in Tulsa.  You can tour their factory & watch stages of your cabinets being built.  He was probably annoyed, but he let me go through & take pics for my wife.  Also, LIFETIME TRANSFERABLE warranty!!!

Thank you for all the great suggestions!  I will check out all of them as our search continues.

We may still do some work ourselves- my husband used to work in residential construction, now mostly at a desk in commerical construction, but we still have every tool anyone could possibly need.  It's both a blessing and a curse.  One part I don't mind doing is the demo-I would happily take a sledgehammer to our current kitchen space.

I agree, Sullivan's is who I used for my new cabinets.  I work as an architect, so I drew up my own cabinets, but then they did shop drawings, and I reviewed them over and over.. Things turned out nearly perfect, and the cost beat everyone else I checked in town.

I didn't know Sullivan's gave such good warranty.

I know!  Besides being local...that was probably what sold us.  If you decide to sell, that's a great one!

Also, they install by an hourly rate.  If a place(HD) wants to charge you a percentage to install...WALK!!  That's ridiculous!  A cabinet is a cabinet.  Why should you pay more for installation because you put a glaze on the front, paid more for special hinges, glides, etc...?

That brings me to another interesting point.  While looking at what HD had to offer, unless we wanted to go completely custom(expensive), if we chose a door style...there was a particular drawer style that came with it.  We couldn't change the drawer-front.

I'm sure there are lots of great kitchen designers out there.  I would find someone who works with Sullivans.  I'm sure, however, that they have someone on staff that has a design degree or something.
